McConnell criticizes House proposal to make Election Day a federal holiday

WASHINGTON, DC - DECEMBER 22: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) leaves the Senate floor after speaking at the U.S. Capitol on December 22, 2018 in Washington, DC. Washington (CNN)Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell faced backlash from Democrats for calling their House bill a “power grab” as it included a provision to make Election Day a federal holiday, among other changes.

The sweeping legislation HR 1, or what Democrats are calling the “For the People Act,” would also require presidential candidates to release their tax returns, adds a matching system for small donations, requires super PACs to disclose their donors who give more than $10,000, and prohibits voter purging.
The Kentucky Republican mocked the bill as the “Democratic Politician Protection Act” and argued that it rewrites the “the rules of Americans politics for the exclusive benefit of the Democratic Party.”
He argued that the bill would “victimize every American taxpayer by pouring their money into expensive new subsidies that don’t ever pass the laugh test.”
“Their bill would make Election Day a new paid holiday for government workers, and create an additional brand new paid leave benefit for up to six days for any federal bureaucrat who decides they’d like to hang out at the polls during an election,” McConnell said.
“Just what America needs,” he protested. “Another paid holiday and a bunch of government workers being paid to go out and work, I assume our colleagues on the other side, on their campaigns. This is the Democrat plan to restore democracy? A brand new week of paid vacation for every federal employee who’d like to hover around while you cast your ballot?”
“A power grab that’s smelling more and more like exactly what it is,” he concluded of the bill.
McConnell’s home state of Kentucky requires that its state employees get the day off on a presidential Election Day. A 2006 report from the Us Election Assistance Commission found that voter turnout was not necessarily higher in states where Election Day is a state holiday.
“Voting isn’t a ‘power grab’. It’s democracy, and it’s literally the entire point of our representative government,” tweeted Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a New York Democrat who’s formed an exploratory running for president.
Another 2020 hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, argued that “of course” Congress should make it easier to vote on Election Day, adding that the US needs a “constitutional amendment establishing a nationally recognized right to vote.”
“An Election Day holiday WOULD be a power grab,” Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch of Florida tweeted. “It would be the American people grabbing power back from the wealthy special interests that dominate Washington because (McConnell and) others prefer that it be hard to vote.”

Has Donald Trump Murdered Christianity In The U.S.?

Has Donald Trump Murdered Christianity In The U.S.?

While I was thinking about this article and what to call it I at first thought to name it ‘Donald Trump HAS Murdered Christianity in the U.S.’ but I realized that this was not the truth, he has not done so. To me, I believe that Donald Trump is a very VERY immoral and a very evil human being but he did not murder Christianity in this country nor in any other country. The Christian faith has been under attack by the Media and by simply ignorant people for decades now here in the U.S.. Having someone like Mr. Trump as our Nation’s President has without a doubt (in my opinion) hurt the Christian faith though. Now, I am going to write about who I do blame for hurting the reputation of The Faith and I promise that this will not be a long drawn out article. This is not going to be an article about whom I blame the most, then second most and so on, it is just going to be about guilt over all.

1.) First Donald Trump for daring to say in his ignorance that he is a Christian when he knows nothing about Christianity. He is what The Lord refers to as “lukewarm water”, he says he is a Christian and for those who don’t know any better some will tend to think that he is one of us and will use him as an example of why Christians are such bad people.

2.) The Media (over all). Not all media outlets are ignorant nor are they all evil by nature and some, are just stupid. Many outlets have been blaming Christianity as a ‘bad thing’ for years here in the U.S. through ignorance and some through hate.

3.) The Republican Party (especially Senator Mitch McConnell, the leader of the U.S. Senate) whom has been trying to say they are the “Christian right” all the way back to the time of the Reagan Presidency in the 1980’s. For the past 20 years or so there has been a group within the Republican Party who calls themselves the “Tea Party” who considers themselves “Conservative Christians” whom over all, I believe are far from being Christians at all. One of the big reasons that I am saying this is because they are a huge portion of the steadfast base of Mr. Trump. What these folks have been proving to the rest of the Nation and to the whole World is that they (Trump base) are ignorant, uneducated racists white people. The Media in turn has been glad to say  “see, these people are examples of Christians” so, do you see how horrible these Christian people are.

4.) This group is without a doubt (to me) the main villains in this story and that is the people themselves. The people who dare to call themselves Christians yet enthusiastically endorse Donald Trump. I know that a lot of people will say things like “well I have to endorse the Republicans because the Democrats endorse abortion and I just can’t go with them.” To a degree this can seem to make some sense but in effect all these people are doing is choosing one Demonic entity over another Demonic entity. Some people who call themselves Christians have chosen to not vote at all because of this issue even before Mr. Trump came onto the National political scene yet, is this the best way for the actual Christians in this Country to respond? My thought on this issue is no, Christians need to be voting in force in this and in all Countries but not for the Democrats nor for the Republicans.

I have heard for the past 40 years or so how we need more than two Political Parties in this Country and I do agree with this issue. We The People whom are Christians do need to come out of these two very evil Political Parties and to form at least one other Political Party. I believe that this would start the development of other Political Parties. There could end up being 5-10-15 other ‘Parties’ on the ballots but at least then groups of people could have real choices of whom and what they agreed with and did not agree with when or if they choose to vote. Christians MUST come out from ‘the world’ for we are not of this world, to not do so is to indorse Satan whom rules this world.

Republicans Freaking Out As Last Of The Ballots Are Being Counted

(THIS ARTICLE IS COURTESY OF THE DAILY BEAST NEWS AGENCY)

Republicans Freak Out as New Ballots Threaten Florida Senate Win

New ballots in Broward County have conspiracy theorists—including the state’s top elected officials—calling for an investigation of Democrats.

As the Republican margin in Florida’s U.S. Senate race narrowed and the contest headed toward a manual recount, everyone from elected Republicans to online conspiracy-mongers began screaming foul on Thursday night.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who is clinging to a roughly 34,000-vote lead over Sen. Bill Nelson (D), held a press conference at the Florida governor’s mansion in which he called on law enforcement to launch an investigation and announced that he and the National Republican Senate Committee were bringing a lawsuit against officials in Broward County, where many votes are still being counted.

In other words, the state governor used his state-funded official residence to launch legal action against his own state’s election officials about an election he was a candidate in.

That was merely the formal legal tip of the brewing Republican pushback.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) had a social media meltdown, claiming in a long series of tweets that Democratic lawyers had come to Broward to “change the results of the election.”

Marco Rubio

Now democrat lawyers are descending on . They have been very clear they aren’t here to make sure every vote is counted.

– They are here to change the results of election; &
is where they plan to do it.

Florida’s gubernatorial race is also tightening. The race between Andrew Gillum and Ron DeSantis had appeared to be over on Tuesday night, when Gillum, the Democrat, conceded. But as the counts continued, particularly in Broward County, the gap between the candidates narrowed so much that it passed the 0.5 percent automatic recount threshold on Thursday afternoon, Politico reported.

The late swing toward the Democrats—powered by South Florida—is so pronounced in the election for Florida’s agriculture commissioner that Democrat Nikki Fried has now moved into the lead after she trailed her Republican rival on Election Night.

As of Thursday night, officials in Broward County—where around 1.2 million people are registered to vote—gave no indication of the number of ballots still to count.

Rubio was hardly the only conservative propagating remarkable theories online about how the election was literally being stolen from them, before the party’s conspiracist-in-chief weighed in Thursday evening:

Donald J. Trump

That came after far-right activists on Twitter had circulated a hashtag, “#StopTheSteal,” to organize opposition to counting ballots in Florida. Ali Alexander, a self-described philosopher and Republican activist who runs a PAC that’s bankrolled by the billionaire pro-Trump Mercer family, urged his fans to protest in Broward County.

“Protest everything,” Alexander tweeted. “Disrupt everything.”

Who else lives in Broward? We need 10 patriots to start. Where are they counting? Periscope everything. Protest everything. Disrupt everything.

In his Thursday press conference, Scott revved up his party’s grassroots, calling for a law-enforcement investigation and accusing Democrats of trying to steal the election.

“I will not sit idly by while unethical liberals try to steal this election,” Scott said.

Scott also sought to tie Nelson’s recount effort to Hillary Clinton, pointing out that Nelson’s election lawyer, Marc Elias, also worked for Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and helped arrange financing for the Fusion GPS “dossier” on Donald Trump. Right-wing media quickly picked up on the Elias connection, with Breitbart devoting top placement on its homepage to a video describing Elias as a “Lawyer Tied to Clinton Campaign & ‘Pee Dossier.’”

Much of the attention online has focused on an unclear video that purports to show ballots being transported in private cars, which Scott supporters say would violate chain-of-custody rules. Rubio and a number of right-wing blogs have promoted the video, which was shot by failed congressional candidate Tim Canova.

This video, posted by an Independent Cong candidate in 18 (who was endorsed by Bernie Sanders in 16) purports to show BrowardCounty ballots being transported from polling places in private cars.

Has anyone in local media looked into this claim or asked elections dept about it?

Tim Canova

@Tim_Canova

Caught On Video: Concerned citizen sees ballots being transported in private vehicles & transferred to rented truck on Election night. This violates all chain of custody requirements for paper ballots. Were the ballots destroyed & replaced by set of fake ballots? Investigate now!

Broward County’s Supervisor of Elections didn’t respond to a request for comment about the video. Canova, a former Democrat who came in third on Election Day with an independent challenge against Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D), has also disputed the results of his own election defeat.

The Republican anxiety in Florida comes as they face worsening odds in another late-counting Senate race, this time in Arizona. Democrat Kyrsten Sinema took a thin lead in the Arizona race on Thursday as more votes were counted.

Kentucky: Where Registered Independent Voters Aren’t Allowed To Vote

Kentucky: Where Registered Independent Voters Aren’t Allowed To Vote

Okay, so I have ALWAYS registered as an Independent, only to find out that Kentucky doesn’t allow Independents to vote in any of the primaries. That COMPLETELY makes me an irrelevant voter. Let’s face it both parties have always had crooks and liars presented to us as candidates. That’s the whole point of voting as an independent. I don’t want to be forced to vote Republican or Democrat. I want to be able to make my own decision as to who to vote for. Now the only thing I can do as an Independent voter is choose between whichever crook and liar the two parties put before us in November. POINTLESS!!!

One person one vote? No, I don’t believe that it is true in politics here in America today. My wife, son and I are registered voters as Independents, this is supposed to mean that you are not tied to any party, you can vote for whomever you choose. Florida was the first state I personally came across that did their political system like Kentucky does. I leave you with this thought. Some people defend their right to not let you vote during a primary because you have to be a registered member of their party don’t you know. Otherwise it wouldn’t ‘be fair”, really? Here is the irony of this fraud voting system, we Independents can vote in the main elections in November though. After the DNC and the RNC have figured out which one of their people who ‘we the people’ are going to be allowed to vote for. How come I can’t vote for Bernie Sanders today but if he is on the ballot in November representing the Democratic party, I can vote for him then? What I am saying is that I believe this current system is illegal as in Unconstitutional. Every person must be allowed the opportunity to vote equal times otherwise the State is not acting legally just as the RNC and the DNC are doing and being sanctioned by some of the States to do it. One person one vote, no not in Kentucky!

How Can Any Christian Or Jew Justify Voting For People As Evil As Hillary Or Trump?

I am a 60-year-old American man who is a Christian first and I am an Independent registered voter. The state I live in does not allow a registered Independent to vote in their primaries yet they beg for your vote in the fall elections. Being a person is supposed to only get one vote in any election I have always felt un-Constitutionally slighted during the primary season. Like this spring I would have liked to have cast my vote for Mike Huckabee in the Republican primary but I was not allowed to vote. When Donald Trump threw his sombrero into the Republican circus I know that my wife and I scoffed at the concept that anyone would ever vote for him, obviously we were wrong on that one. I understand the feeling of the people being sick of career politicians and being willing to vote for dang near anything that wasn’t one of them. My analogy is something like this, concerning Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. I do not have a problem at all with there being a woman President or in my voting for one, but not ‘this’ woman! Concerning Mr. Trump, I don’t have any problem at all in voting for a non-politician, but not ‘this’ buffoon!

I have a question for everyone out there reading this article today, did the 2005 bus conversation Mr. Trump had with Billy Bush actually surprise you? With someone who is so egotistical, hate filled and moral-less as Mr. Trump, none of these taped conversations surprise me even a little bit. I have been hearing terms for Hillary Clinton that I won’t put down in this article just in case a minor is reading it. One term I have heard quite often is that she is “a she bi–h from Hell.” I honestly don’t know if that is an incorrect statement. I have read in several places that the son of Pastor Billy Graham “Franklin Graham” still wants people to vote for Mr. Trump because he refers to Hillary, President Obama and the Democratic Party as “Godless.” When I was a young child the Democratic Party was considered the “Christian” Party but once Roe V Wade abortion ruling came down from the U.S. Supreme Court in the early seventies and the Democratic Party sided with having abortions they lost a whole lot of their Christian voters. Because that here in America with there only really having  been one other political party the “Conservative” Christians moved over to the Republican Party.

Now people of the Christian faith and of the Jewish faith are in a quandary as far as which Presidential candidate to vote for. Most people don’t want to “waste” their one and only vote by voting for a ‘fringe’ candidate like with the Libertarian or the Green Party candidates. But what do you do, stay home and not vote, in essence making that your vote? Yet, if we do chose to vote for neither of the ‘big two’ haven’t we actually voted for Hillary Clinton in a way? I personally believe that Hillary and Trump are both very evil self-centered human trash and I just can’t get myself to vote for either of them so I guess I will end up voting for Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party have issues in their Party Platforms that I both agree with and that I disagree with, in some cases very strongly so. I am one of those folks who try to weigh the evil of a candidate against the good of a candidate, just as I do with the Party they represent but with these two Candidates there is so much pure evil how does a person of faith choose which one, or neither? In my personal opinion the term “lock them both up and throw away the key” sounds like the most logical choice and the best choice for America and the whole world!

Voting For The Devil (Lucifer, i.e. Ted Cruz): No Free Speech Allowed Except Theirs

This week former Ohio Congressman and the Republican Speaker of The House of Representatives John Boehner referred to Texas Senator and Republican Presidential candidate ‘Lying Ted Cruz’ as “Lucifer in the flesh”. Late last year after the Pope visited America and Mr. Boehner whom is a Catholic got a few minutes with the Pope the next day announced that he was going to retire both from the Speaker-ship position and from the Congress. I believe that it was this same day that Mr. Boehner referred to Mr. Cruz as “the biggest asshole in the Congress”. It is in a sense the truth to say that they are from the same political party as Mr. Cruz is listed as a Republican as is Mr. Boehner yet that idea is really a fallacy because Mr. Cruz is really a member of ‘the Tea Party’ which constantly run their own candidates against sitting Republicans in the Republican primaries. I personally am a registered Independent voter who detest both of our country’s major political parties as being only self-serving and crooked to their core’s. During this Presidential election cycle both party’s have shown the world just how rigged both systems are toward any ‘outsider’ who would dare run for President against their party’s ‘establishment’ candidates.

The Republican primary debacle started with 17 people trying for their nomination with the vast majority of them being people who the ‘establishment’ could get behind. Now we are down to three men trying for that nomination. These three men, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Governor John Kasich of Ohio. The Republican Party hates the front-runner Mr. Trump with a passion mainly because he is not part of their ‘establishment’. Ted Cruz is loathed by basically every member of the Congress because quite frankly he is a lying fraud and a complete ‘asshole’ of a human being who dares to call himself a Christian when he is nothing but a hypocrite and the poster boy for Jesus’ term in Revelation of “luke warm water”. He is the type of person that is a disease toward Christianity as he tries to convince people that he is a good Christian example and that could not be further from the truth. The third candidate Mr. Kasich only has a chance to win the Republican nomination is if there is a contested convention this summer where the ‘Party’ refuses to give the nomination to the obvious people’s choice ‘via their vote’, Mr. Trump. The ‘delegates’ are freed up to vote for whomever they wish after the first vote if they reject Mr. Trump. Ted Cruz is under the ignorant belief that he then would win the nomination being he is second in line on that totem-pole. Folks, that will not happen, pretty much everyone at that convention and all of the Republican brass will shun this hate-filled hypocrite. This would mean that either ‘the Party’ will give the nod to Governor Kasich or even drag up old meat like Mitt Romney whom most of the party insiders can’t stand either. Any which way you choose to look at the issue, this ‘convention’ is going to get very nasty this summer.

The last part of this post is going to be about issues involving the Donald Trump campaign. Mr. Trump who has never been a politician has said a lot of things that he would like to do that even if he became our President will never be able to do. This is because the Congress, the Supreme Court, and our Nations Constitution will never allow them to happen. So, I personally am not as worried as some people are about Mr. Trumps rhetoric because it will not come to pass.

This is where I am going to come down hard on the people (mostly democratic leaning folks) who feel they have the right to riot anywhere Mr. Trump is scheduled to speak. These people just like all people in America are supposed to have the right of ‘free speech’. But what they nor anyone else have the right to do is to physically try to shut down Mr. Trumps rallies/speeches. Even if they hate the man and or hate some of his ideas that will never happen like ‘the wall’ along our Nations southern border with Mexico, they do not have the ‘right’ to stop his or anyone else right to speak. The case here is by far mostly applauded by leading Democrats like the poster girl for habitual liars, Hillary Clinton. Our Country’s main stream media is always very bias against anyone who doesn’t tow the mark for the Democrats leaderships wishes. People like Ms. Clinton and these hypocrites and thugs that obviously endorse these actions of ‘uncivil disobedience’ only agree with the term ‘free speech’ when it is they whom are doing the talking.
