(Theology Poem) Prophet

Prophet

What is a Prophet, is there really such a thing in these days that we live

Is it something from our past that mankind in our wisdom has out lived

Who is it that would dare say they are such a thing as a speaker of God

Do we believe things the Scriptures have told us for thousands of years

Today if a person says they are a Prophet do they say this hoping for profit

Are we living in Spiritual darkness, are these the last days of mankind

Are we living in a time that our ears cannot hear nor can our eyes see

If one stands up and speaks only God’s truth, would anyone of us listen

If we are living in the last days in darkness of which the Scriptures speak

What shall we do, will we know a chosen vessel of God, or will our hearts be cold

Friends, Prophets will be both men and women that God for Himself has chosen

Will our sarcasm, our ignorance and ego’s lead us to live in Hell’s fiery pit below

Prophet?—Profit?—Both Prophet And Profit?

Good afternoon folks, this afternoon’s letter to you is mostly my thoughts on the issue of “Holy Men, or Women.” I write this wanting to get your thoughts and opinions. So, if you would, after you have read this please drop me a note in the comment section with what your thoughts and opinions are on this subject matter.

Before a person can decide if they themselves or someone else can be a Prophet we need to know what the definition of the word is. So, I checked into the Google Dictionary and then into the Merriam-Webster Dictionary for reference points. I am going to put their thoughts down for you so that we can have good talking points to help base our conversation on.

Via Google: the world ‘Prophet’ is “a person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the Will of God.”

Via Google the word ‘Profit’ as a Noun: a financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent, excess.

Via Google: as a Verb: obtain a financial advantage or benefit, especially from an investment.

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes the word ‘profit’ as “the excess of the selling price of goods over the cost.” Also: “The ratio of profit for a given year to the amount of capital invested or to the ‘value of the sale.’

I on purpose left the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and their definition of the word “Prophet” for last because it gives more definitions in their answer. When I get finished giving you these definitions I will give you my personal thoughts on this matter. If you would, then please give me your thoughts on them.

Prophet:

1.) One who utters divinely inspired revelations.

2.) A writer of one of the Prophetic Books of the Bible’

3.) One regarded by a group of followers as the final authoritative revealer of God’s will:  Jesus Christ, Muhammad

4.) One gifted with more than ordinary Spiritual and moral insight especially: an inspired poet.

5.) One who foretells future events.

6.) An effective or leading spokesman for a cause , doctrine, or group.

7.) Christian Science: A Spiritual Seer.

Human terms: An Economist who is regarded by many as a reliable (Prophet) of future developments in the global economy. Example: Warren Buffet.

So now, a Prophet, Profit, or both a Prophet and Profit.

Okay, so in your thoughts, what is a Prophet? To me, a Prophet is definitely a ‘Holy Man, or Woman’, a Teacher, a Seer, one who has a much deeper understanding of the teachings of God than the average person. One who gives their life to God and His teachings. One who does these things then speaks the insight and knowledge they have been given to any who may ask of that knowledge and in some cases give this knowledge to those who did not ask and who do not want to hear such knowledge.

Profit: what does profit have to do with being a ‘Holy person?’ Does money have anything to do with being a Holy Person, a Preacher, a Priest, a Minister or a Church? Should we as children of God or as Ministers/Teachers of His Word base our lives on income? Should a true ‘Teacher/Prophet’ of God’s Word own 8 homes, $5,000 suits, $10,000 watches and a fleet of fancy cars? Should a Preacher be making a million dollars a year from the Church he ‘serves?’ Even with a Church Congregation that has 10,000 members and an offering plate each Saturday or Sunday of $100,000 what is wrong with the Preacher having a salary of $12,000 per year to go with a free Parsonage, utilities and a gas allowance for their vehicle or even a Church supplied vehicle? Why is that not enough? Should not the Church offerings be spread out to the Church members in need first then to the local community and or to missionaries? How about local food banks and homeless shelters? Why does so much have to go to the ‘top end?’ How much is a Church Congregation paying the Elders and the Deacons? Should the Elders and Deacons be getting paid at all? Are the local Churches sending all of their ‘profits’ to a regional ‘Dioceses’ where Bishops and Cardinals decide where funds should be spent? Has the Church you attend become nothing more than a business? The only excuse that I can think of for Churches having to pay their Preachers such a large salary is because of the cost of their college education at these ‘Christian’ schools. Personally I attended Carson Newman Baptist College in Jefferson City Tennessee and I realized that a person attempting to get their PhD. in something like Theology with a minor in Preaching could have a College loan debt of $100,000.00 plus by the time they graduated. Folks, it takes a long time to pay off a debt like that, the payments are high so it requires a high salary to be able to pay it. Here is my thought on this issue. Colleges like Carson Newman has thousands of students who are not studying for the Ministry so I believe that for the students who are trying to become Ministers couldn’t these ‘Religious’ schools cut these students a break like say let them attend at %50 the cost of the other courses? Or, being that they are ‘Religious’ schools couldn’t they only charge these students the cost of materials like books and write off the rest of the ‘fees? No Ministers first priority should have to be how big of a salary they can get so that they can pay off their college debt at a Religion based College!

Profit, a verb, a financial benefit, especially from an investment. Yes, a College tuition is an investment both in financial terms and in physical effort terms, yet is personal profit what should be driving a person who is trying to become a Minister of God? Should not Colleges who say that they are Religion Based be ‘not for profit’ schools/businesses? Our goal as followers of God should not, can not be, to see how much wealth we can amass. When non believers see Preachers who are at the Pulpit who are dripping in the trappings of wealth who are begging the Congregation and/or those watching or listening on TV or Radio to donate of their hard-earned income to the Church and to God, what do you think this makes them think? How many people have to think that a good chunk, or all of their offerings are going into the pockets of the Preacher? Folks, for profit Preachers and for profit Christian Colleges are a spike in the Cross of Christ.

Can you be a Christian or a Preacher and be blessed by God with great wealth, yes you can. But, what do we do with that wealth once we are blesses with it? Do we hoard it? Do we invest it in the stock market? During the time of Christ here on Earth the Jewish Religious Leaders of the Day taught, and rightfully so, that everyone should give the top %10 of their earnings to God, yet Jesus spoke to us that we must do better than these ‘Leaders’ in our actions. If you or I for example became well published writers, whether we are Preachers or not, and our income each year was one million dollars, have we developed a million dollar lifestyle? Do I need a bring home income of $900,000 per year? If I had such an income should I not be gracious to the Church I attend and to the community in which I live? Could I possible survive if I donated $900,000 each year to charities and lived off of the remaining $100,000 per year? My current income is about $30,000 per year, we own a 13-year-old car with about 180,000 miles on it yet it is still working well enough to do the things that we need it to do. The huge thing for us is, it is paid off, we have no payment on it. We own a house that was built-in 1961 and it is the best house we have ever owned, (actually it is the only house that either my wife or I have ever owned). To be honest we own %10 of it and the bank owns the other %90 but we feel very blessed to be allowed to have this home to live in. The house is the only thing that we have payments on except for some credit cards so we are surviving financially as long as nothing major tears up. But the thing is, we feel very blessed and thankful to God for his kindness of what we do have as we know that there are billions of people on this planet who have it much worse than we do. We only have a couple of hundred dollars in the bank but, when is enough, enough? We have food, we have a roof over our heads, we have electricity, we have a car that works, what have I got to complain about? We as Christians must learn to accept and to cherish to good things that we have been given and to quit coveting more. For that which we covet, that which we worship, this becomes ‘our God.’

Iran’s Supreme Ruler: Iman Khamenei “Islamic Unity Only Solution To Extricate Muslims From U.S., Zionist Evil

(THIS ARTICLE IS COURTESY OF: ENGLISH.ALMAMAR.COM.LB T.V. NETWORK)

Imam Khamanei: Islamic Unity Only Solution to extricate Muslims from US, Zionist Evil
Imam Khamenei
Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei

“Should we unite and proceed toward Islamic goals in a united manner, then the US and the malignant, nefarious Zionist nexus can no longer hold nations in their clutches,” he said on Saturday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

The Leader was addressing a number of state officials and diplomatic representatives of Muslim countries as well as participants at an international unity conference in Tehran.

“Today, the Muslim world is facing great tribulations, the way out of which is Islamic unity,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“Today, Muslim killings are taking place  from Myanmar to Africa; some are being killed at the hands of Boko Haram, others by Buddhists.”

“Today, there are two volitions at contrast with each other in the region: The will for unity and the will for schism. Should unity transpire, the situation will not be as it is today and Muslims will earn esteem.”

Imam Khamenei said the British version of Shia Islam and the American version of Sunni Islam, which pit Muslims against one another, are “two blades of the same pair of scissors.”

The British policy of “divide and rule” is seriously being pursued by the enemies of Islam, the Leader said.

Imam Khamenei said worldwide Muslim unity, the most important type of readiness needed by the Muslim world, would abort the conspiracy to consign the issue of Palestine to oblivion.

Is The Pope Actually As Ignorant As His Words Are Saying He Is?

I am not a Catholic, but I am a Christian. I do not believe that the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church is stupid nor ignorant, at least I hope that he isn’t. I know that as a ‘religious leader’ of a ‘Christ based’ faith the Pope is suppose to be kind, good, and welcoming to all people of the Earth. Peace and love are the hallmarks of God’s teachings so the Pope is correct in his inviting of all persons out of war torn countries and into country’s that are not ‘war torn’. But, at the same time you show wisdom in the protection of your family, your country, and the Church. In pretty much any other circumstance Pope Francis would be correct in welcoming the Muslim and Persian people from North Africa and the Middle-East into Europe and the rest of the civilized world as to not do so would be cruel and racists. But if the Pope does not understand the difference of this situation compared to, for example, free travel between members of EU country’s then he is quite ignorant.

I have stated my opinions on racism several times in articles that I have written here on this site throughout the years. I believe that any form of racism is evil and that evil will get a person condemned at their judgement before the Throne of Christ. If I, you, the Pope, or anyone else are anti-Muslim or Persian people, then we are being racist and this is a sin that will be held against our charge. I do not believe for even one moment that Pope Francis is a racist person. As I said earlier that in any other circumstance Pope Francis would be correct in trying to get all country’s on Earth to open their doors to these war refugees, but not in this case. If the Pope really thinks that what he is saying to the public is correct, then he is an idiot. If he does’t believe what he is saying, then he is being a liar. For anyone, especially a ‘Religious Leader’ to be a liar or an idiot is not a good thing. I will not judge the Pope on which one he is being, that is God’s job, not mine.

In both of the previous paragraphs I have referred to this particular circumstance as being different than any other circumstance. The reason that Pope Francis is wrong in his trying to get Europe and the rest of the world to allow in these refugees is not because they are Muslim people, Persian people, or even African people. The color of their skin has nothing at all to do with anything. The issue is what has saturated these people between their ears, and that issue is Islam! This ‘religion’ has been around for almost 1,400 years and for it’s whole existence including right from it’s inception it is and has always been a religion of hate, murder and conquest. Ever since their ‘prophet’ Mohammad was still alive he participated in the extermination of all people and all other faiths in every country this disease has spread to. As most of you know the word Islam means ‘submission’ as in total submission to the will of Allah. Any who will not submit are to be killed. Believers are ordered to infiltrate a country, grow strong from within, then attack and destroy until that country has only one faith, Islam. Any country who lets believers of this ‘faith’ in among their people are inviting their own murderers within their own homes. Some people, those who haven’t read or studied their scriptures or paid any attention to world history over the past 1,400 years, will say that I am being Islamophobic. I am telling you, wake up, read, and learn because it is you who are being ignorant. Read the Quran which is ‘the words’ of the prophet Mohammad, read the real Islamic holy book, the Hadith, which is ‘the actions’ of the prophet Mohammad. The play book for your destruction is laid out in black and white, it is you who are being ignorant and it will cost you your country, your way of life, and your life. So, is the Pope being ignorant? Read, learn, then make an intelligent decision instead of an un-knowledgeable one.

The Great Prophetic Story Book That Is The Old Testament Book Of Daniel

Daniel, a Prophet of God whose name means ‘God is my judge’. This Old Testament book is really quite an enjoyable read. The book is only 12 chapters long and contains several well know stories as ‘Daniel in the lion’s den’ and his three friends who were thrown into the furnace of fire that was so hot that some of the men who took them to the furnace died because of the heat. Three friends who would not bow to a fake God were to be burnt alive because of it. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three men thrown into the fire because of their beliefs. Three men thrown in yet the King witnessed four men walking around within the fire. The King calls them out, three men come out of the fire with out a burn or even singed clothing. I believe that evening the slaves and the soldiers who witnessed this event had a story to tell to their wives and children, not exactly the normal day at the fire pit/office.

If you would this would be a wonderful book to read to your children during a family hour at home or during a set time you and your family set aside for the Lord each evening. I believe that the story of Daniel in the lion’s den is one of the first if not the first Bible story I remember hearing as a small child. It has been my experience that the stories within this book have always been well received by most everyone young or old who were hearing it for the first time. If you do not know these stories personally, please take the time to explore them with your family, I honestly believe that almost all of you will enjoy it. I am on purpose leaving the lions den story vague hoping that you will take the time to explore it for yourself.

Daniels life and his ministry covered a time that the people of Israel were in bondage in the nation of Babylon where they were taken and lived for seventy years. Daniel was deported with the other Israelite’s who had not been killed during the battle, he was 16 years old at the time. Daniel was hand-picked along with his three fore mentioned friends for government service. They were educated in Babylon’s best schools for three years and given new names, Daniel was given the name Belteshazzar  after a Babylonian God and the name meant ‘Bel protect his life.’

Daniel was blessed by the Spirit of God with great wisdom and interpretive skills which through time brought him into a position of prominence with the King, especially with Kings Nebuchadnezzar and King Darius. Daniel was mentioned three times by the sixth century BC Prophet Ezekiel as a man  who was ‘greatly loved’ and as a man who was an ‘example of righteousness.’ Jesus Himself also attributed a quote to Daniel the Prophet in Matthew 24:15.

The Book of Daniel is also widely known as a book of Prophesies and in the eleventh chapter alone there are over 100 prophecies of historical events that have come true.  The Book of Daniel just like the Book of Isaiah give the world a very detailed and quite through view of world events through the end of this world as we all know it. In his book Daniel wrote the first chapter in his native tongue of Hebrew. Chapters two through seven were written in the Aramaic language in which he chartered the future course of the future Gentile world powers.  The last five chapters (8-12) Daniel reverted back to Hebrew to show the Jewish nation of Israel under Gentile domination. The events written show the sovereign control that God has over the affairs of world history. These writings would be a lot of comfort to both the current captives of Babylon as well as many years later to the Church that Jesus would set up here upon the Earth. The truth is laid out that there will be kingdoms like the Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, English and Germans but that they will all come to ruin. Yet the fact remains that God will establish His Kingdom where Israel and God’s redeemed will stand forever. Please consider Chapter 2 verse 44, “And in he days of these Kings shall the God of Heaven set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed: And the Kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these Kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.”

The Book of Daniel  is a beautifully written piece of art that you and your whole family can enjoy together. Daniel is one of only a very few Biblical people where nothing negative is written about them anywhere in the Scriptures. Daniel was truly one of God’s most loved and trusted servants. Daniel set himself aside from the world around him that was full of sin and violence. He chose to be a man of God through his actions of love faith and obedience to the teachings of his Creator. Daniel chose to be a pillar of faith and Godly works even though he lived in a world where he and his people were captives and slaves. Friends, O how I wish that these traits could be said about the human race today. I wish these were traits of all of our families, the Churches we attend, about our own selves! I hope you have enjoyed this little piece about one of God’s most faithful servants. I pray that the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob (Israel) will ride with you in all of your journeys. Friends, until we meet again, Shalom.

Explaining The Prophet Jonah And His Famous Mission

Jonah is the Prophet of the God of Israel that is know in most children’s stories as the man who got swallowed by a big fish and was spit out three days later. The issue here was that God gave him a directive to do something that he did not want to do so he got on a ship going in the opposite direction of where he was order to go. This event happened in about the year 759-758 BC. God had directed Jonah to go to the city on Nineveh and proclaim a message to them that if they did not repent of their evil ways and change their ways that they and their whole city would be destroyed my God in 40 days hence. The issue here is that Jonah hated the people of Nineveh and he did not want them to repent, he wanted God to destroy them instead. Nineveh was a huge and powerful city that was known far and wide as a ruthless people and basic logic would have said that Jonah was probably a bit afraid of going there. This event would have occurred during the reign of Nineveh’s King Ashurdan the third (773-755 BC).

Jonah was born in the town of Gath-hepher which was about 3 miles north of Nazareth in lower Galilee. This would have made him a Prophet of the Northern Kingdom. This fact also meant that the religious leaders of Jesus time the (Pharisees) were wrong when they said about Jesus in (John 7:52) search (the Scriptures) and look; for out of Galilee there has come no Prophets. There is a Jewish tradition that Jonah was the son of the boy who Elijah raised from the dead. You can find this story in the book of (1 Kings 17 8-24). Jesus Himself did support the historical accuracy of this book in (Matthew 12: 39-41). In this Scripture is the only time where Jesus ever likened Himself to a Prophet when Jesus spoke of Jonah being in the belly of the whale for three days and that He would also be in the heart of the Earth for three days.

Being that Jonah was in northern Israel when God told him to go to Nineveh which was to his north-east Jonah thought he could run from God and His directive by getting on a ship and sailing west to  Tarshish (Spain). While Jonah was on that ship a huge storm came up and the men on board who were very superstitious started looking around to find out who might have angered “the God’s”. Jonah stepped up and admitted what he had done so he told the men to throw him overboard so that they could be saved, they did and the storm calmed down. When Jonah hit the water a huge fish (probably a whale) swallowed him whole. Jonah survived in the belly of the fish for three days. During this time Jonah came to grips with his situation and repented of his sin and the fish spit him out onto dry land apx 20 miles from Nineveh.

If you were a citizen of Nineveh think of this scenario for a moment please. From 20 miles to the south of your city a man whom would be physically quite pink from the acids of the whales belly walks through your city and out the north end while proclaiming one sentence over and over, “40 days and Nineveh shall be overthrown.” Much to Jonah’s irritation the King and all the people sat in sackcloth and ashes while praying to the Lord for mercy. After Jonah had walked through the city he found himself a good viewing spot on top of a hill to where he could see if God would destroy the city and these evil people, or not.

While Jonah sat there waiting God planted a gourd that grew quickly which gave Jonah shade from the heat and the hot winds. Yet early the next morning God made a worm that ate the gourd killing it. Jonah soon passed out from the heat beating down on him. Once he woke up he was very mad about the gourd dying. God used this event as a teaching moment for Jonah. God asked Jonah why it was that he was so upset about a plant dying especially one that he had not planted or nourished in any way. Yet he (Jonah) wanted God to destroy this huge city and all of its inhabitants? To make a long story short God did not destroy Nineveh at that time because the King and all the people repented. Two generations after this event God did destroy the city as the ancestors of the people reverted to their old violent ways. I believe that a lesson to us all is that we need to try to look at life and at other people in our lives through the eyes of the Holy Spirit. All Christians are a tabernacle in which the Spirit of God resides and we should always try to see through His eyes, not through the eyes of humans.
