Ukraine Announces Fast-Track Passports After Putin’s Russian Citizenship Offer

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has ordered an overhaul of the process for granting Ukrainian citizenship, in response to a Russian decree expanding the number of Ukrainians who can apply for fast-track Russian passports.

Zelenskiy’s office said early on Thursday, just a few hours after the Kremlin published Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order, that the foreign ministry would simplify the procedure for certain groups to attain Ukrainian citizenship.

Those who suffer from human rights violations and constraints on freedom in their home countries, and ethnic Ukrainians “from friendly powers” willing to help Ukraine’s development, would be eligible for fast-track passports, Zelenskiy’s office said.

It did not explain which countries are considered to be friendly.

“The President made this decision because of… an order by President Vladimir Putin introducing a simpler procedure for granting Russian citizenship to Ukrainians,” the statement said.

Putin’s order added to the list of those who can apply for fast-track Russian passports Ukrainian citizens who were registered as permanent residents of government-controlled parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as of April 2014.

That is the date at which a military conflict with Russia-backed separatists started.

“Such a step by the Russian Federation creates additional obstacles on a path to de-escalation of the conflict, and the reintegration of the Donbass region,” the statement said.

Moscow’s move comes ahead of a Ukrainian parliamentary election on Sunday, when opinion polls suggest the Russia-friendly Opposition Platform party may emerge as the strongest opponents of Zelenskiy’s Servant of the People group.

Five years of war between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed forces in eastern Ukraine’s Donbass region have killed 13,000 people despite a ceasefire signed in 2015. Zelenskiy has said he will do everything in his power to end the conflict.

KBR defeats appeal in U.S. over Nepal, Iraq trafficking claims

A U.S. appeals court on Tuesday refused to hold KBR Inc (KBR.N) liable for alleged human trafficking, in connection with the 2004 kidnapping and murder by insurgents of 12 Nepali men being transported in Iraq to work for a subcontractor at a U.S. military base.

By a 2-1 vote, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans upheld a lower court judge’s 2014 dismissal of civil claims against KBR, an engineering firm and military contractor sometimes known as Kellogg Brown & Root, by surviving family members and a Nepali worker who was not captured.

Circuit Judge Edward Prado said dismissal was proper because KBR’s alleged misconduct lacked a sufficient connection with the United States to justify letting the lawsuit proceed there.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In their 2008 lawsuit, the plaintiffs accused Houston-based KBR and its Jordanian subcontractor Daoud & Partners of recruiting victims in Nepal by promising them jobs at a luxury hotel in Amman, only to send them to Iraq instead.

The surviving worker said he was forced to work at the Al Asad base north of Ramadi, Iraq for 15 months before getting his passport back.

Daoud eventually settled.

Prado rejected claims that KBR’s alleged misconduct could be deemed “domestic” under the federal Alien Tort Statute, which is often invoked in human rights cases, because Al Asad fell under U.S. control, KBR conducted financial transactions through U.S. banks, and U.S.-based workers may have known of alleged abuses.

“All the conduct comprising the alleged international law violations occurred in a foreign country,” wrote Prado, who also rejected claims under a federal anti-trafficking law.

Circuit Judge James Graves dissented. He found “much to support” the conclusion that claims over whether KBR engaged in human trafficking to fulfill its U.S. government contract to provide labor at Al Asad “touch and concern” the United States.

The U.S. Supreme Court narrowed the reach of the Alien Tort Statute in 2013.

Geoffrey Harrison, a partner at Susman Godfrey representing KBR, said he was pleased with Tuesday’s decision, and that “the court of appeals got it right.”

The case is Adhikari et al v. Kellogg Brown & Root Inc et al, 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 15-20225.

Why Is The British Government Not Doing All It Can To Stop Homegrown Terrorism

Again today I see on my Google News Homepage an article from CNN about Scotland Yard’s concerns about hundreds of Brits who are returning from Syria who have been training with ISIS. Now I know that I am not the brightest bulb in the package but I have a question about this situation? Why is it that Briton or any other country for that matter feel obligated not to cancel these people’s Passports as soon as their feet hit the ground in Syria? Why is it that Briton, your country, or my country, is somehow required to let these traders and mass murders back into their old neighborhoods? Why can’t our government, British government, or yours, be allowed to protect its own citizens by arresting these people the second their repatriated brimstone feet touch OUR soil? You can stop most of the homegrown security risks if you deport and cancel these people’s Visas and Passports. Is the British Government without the legal right to cancel the Passports of these returning traitors or even the right/obligation to protect its own citizens by doing so? Why is it that these people are allowed back into our neighborhoods? Why is it that the Government doesn’t arrest them as soon as they step foot on our soil? Maybe you know the answers to these thoughts, I’m just old and confused I guess.

This Is How You Stop Returning Domestic Murderers

This Is How You Stop Returning Domestic Murderers

When or if the governments of the civilized world decide to protect their own citizens from demonic followers of Islam then they must have the guts and the will to do exactly what I am about to tell you. The world is at war right now and it is a war between good and evil and we humans are the casualties of it. When you and everyone you know and love are direct targets of pure evil then you will either fight to your death or it will absolutely be you and yours who will die instead. It does not matter if you do not believe in something or not, for this something to kill you. Even if you do not believe in such things as a God or the Devil and Demons those who do believe in and follow the teachings of evil will still kill you. But this is not going to be a sermon to you at all but I do know that the harsh events that I am going to speak about now must be followed if we/you wish to keep these mass murders out of our own communities.

I know that what I am going to lay out as a program of self-defense will not prevent every single act of violence by those who hate us but it will help keep many acts of terrorism off of our shores. This program goes for everyone on the planet who wishes to live in peace with freedom not just Americans and Europeans.

These things must be done immediately for our own protection and the protection of our families.

#1) When a person leaves our country and the security agencies track this person to an Islamic conflict zone the government of that person MUST immediately cancel that persons pass port/Visa so that they can not legally enter any country and their citizenship must be immediately canceled. With no Passport/Visa it will make it legally impossible for them to get a ticket on a plane or on a ship.

#2) All security agencies around the globe must be immediately notified about this person so that they can be arrested on sight.

#3) It must be public knowledge for these people to know and the free world must follow through with the policy of/if they are ever spotted in their former country that they will be shot on sight, no exceptions.

These people are coming back as trained murderers and they are here to kill you and everyone you have ever cared about. They do not give mercy and they must know that they will not be given any mercy if they ever step foot on our countries soil. Is this harsh, yes it is. It comes down to the question of if you wish to stay alive or not or if you wish to have any freedom or not. I always prefer no evil, no blood shed, no hate, no anger, but in the real world pacifists will die young and they will take the ones they love to their grave with them. I do not believe that any of these suggestions will ever come to pass because our governments (politicians) do not have the guts or the intelligence to help save their own citizens. There is a slight possibility that some of the countries in Europe (like France) might possibly implement these policies but not here in America, our so-called leaders are simply to weak.
