It Is Past Time For The U.S. To Change It’s National Anthem To: America The Beautiful

My Opinion Peace For Today

Here in the States there is a lot of discussion about athletes who are refusing to stand and honor the American Flag while our National Anthem is being played. Personally I do not agree with Americans who so publicly dishonor our Country and our Flag, but I do agree with them or anyone else to have the legal right to do so. My wife and I have long believed that even though the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ is a well know song that a much more appropriate song to be our National Anthem is the song America The Beautiful. This is something that is simply our thoughts on the matter, you may well have many different thoughts and opinions, even different songs for a replacement. This article today is simply to get you to think, to form an opinion if you don’t already have one on this subject matter. I hope you all have a peaceful and happy weekend, God bless.

ACLU’S VIEW’S ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT MATTER, IF YOU DON’T AGREE, SHUT UP?

ACLU: School’s salute to cops sends “ominous, frightening message”

Fourth of July

A patriotic, pre-game celebration honoring law enforcement and first responders at a high school football game has drawn the ire of the New Jersey chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.

New Jersey’s Middletown High School South saluted more than 100 police officers and military personnel on Oct. 21.

The celebration culminated with teenage football players and police officers unfurling a massive American flag before singing the national anthem.

“A star-spangled celebration,” is how the Asbury Park Press described the festivities.

But the ACLU of New Jersey exploded with fury — accusing organizers of sending an “ominous, frightening message.”

In a letter to school leaders, the ACLU-NJ and the local chapter of the NAACP said the school was using the salute to “intimidate and ostracize people who express their views about systemic racism and social justice.”

The controversy stems in part from some comments Middletown Police Deputy Chief Stephen Dollinger made to the Asbury Park Press.

He reportedly told the newspaper that the salute was prompted by the behavior of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

“It’s okay to stand up for social justice, inequality and reform,” he told the newspaper in advance of the football game. “It’s another thing to not stand up for the national anthem.”

Dollinger later said his remarks had been “twisted” and the event had nothing to do with the disgraced NFL quarterback or Black Lives Matter.

“I said we respect the rights of everybody to stand up for social justice and equality and reform, but we also respect our country and want to celebrate the first responders, the national anthem,” he told the newspaper.

Regardless, the idea of honoring those who protect and serve rankled the ACLU and their minions.

“The criticism the deputy police chief expressed for people who decline to stand for the national anthem in protest serves to erect walls between police and the communities they serve,” said ACLU-NJ policy counsel Dianna Houenou.

“The people police are sworn to protect and serve should not have to fear that the value officers assign to them is determined by the beliefs they hold,” she added.

Ms. Houenou fails to understand that police officers will come to the aid of any citizen – even those who spit on the badge and those who despise the flag.

Jasmine Crenshaw, another ACLU lackey, raged over the deputy chief’s behavior.

“The statements made by the deputy police chief and the event’s ostentatious show of power send an ominous, frightening message: that, as an official stance, law enforcement will not tolerate expressions acknowledging our nation’s history of unequal treatment and systematic oppression,” Crenshaw said.

“The magnitude of this event chills the belief that police should be held accountable when they abuse their power or discriminate against people of color, and pressures student athletes to act as props of the police,” she added.

Well, I want to salute the deputy police chief. He should be commended, not condemned for honoring first responders and our veterans.

I’m grown extremely tired of these anti-American agitators who have hijacked our sporting events and turned them into platforms to spew their hatred for the red, white and blue.

It’s a football game, folks – not a Million Man March.

Mariners suspend Clevenger for remarks about protesters

Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners suspended catcher Steve Clevenger on Friday for posting inflammatory comments about civil unrest in Charlotte, North Carolina, that called for protesters to be “locked behind bars like animals.”

Back-up Clevenger, who has since apologized for posting the remarks on Thursday, was suspended for the last 10 games of the season without pay, the American League club said on Friday.

Two nights of street violence sprung from protests in Charlotte over the death of Keith Scott, 43, who was shot dead by a black police officer in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Charlotte on Tuesday.

Scott’s death was the latest in a long string of controversial police killings of black people by U.S. police that have stirred an intense debate on race and justice.

“Black people beating whites when a thug got shot holding a gun by a black police officer,” Clevenger tweeted on Thursday. “Haha (stuff) cracks me up! Keep kneeling for the Anthem!

“(Black Lives Matter) is pathetic once again! Obama you are pathetic once again! Everyone involved should be locked behind bars like animals!”

The Mariners on Thursday issued a statement about Clevenger’s remarks.

“The Seattle Mariners are very disappointed at the tweets posted on Steve Clevenger’s account,” the team said.

“While he is certainly free to express himself, his tweets do not in any way represent the opinions of the Seattle Mariners. We strongly disagree with the language and tone of his comments.”

Clevenger apologized hours after the Mariners’ statement.

“First and foremost I would like to apologize to the Seattle Mariners, my teammates, my family and the fans of our great game for the distraction my tweets on my personal twitter page caused when they went public earlier today,” Clevenger said.

“I am sickened by the idea that anyone would think of me in racist terms. My tweets were reactionary to the events I saw on the news and were worded beyond poorly at best and I can see how and why someone could read into my tweets far more deeply than how I actually feel.”

The 30-year-old Clevenger has not played for the Mariners since late June after suffering a broken hand and a flexor strain in his right elbow.

In 22 games this year, his only season for the Mariners, he is batting .221 with one home run and seven RBIs in 68 at-bats.

Any Racist Salutes By Any Athlete During National Anthem Should Be Forbidden

This past Monday evening I was going to watch the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49’s NFL football game. I had caught the last few moments of the previous game between Pittsburgh and Washington so I decided to stay on channel  and watch some of the next game. I had forgotten about the fact that the backup quarterback for the 49’s would be a focus point during the Anthem, you know whom I am speaking of don’t you? The man who has chosen to stay seated during the Anthem as a protest about how non-whites are treated here in America. Even though I believe that he has the right to make this silent statement I personally do not believe that any American should disgrace our Country in such a manner. A person, especially a person whom makes millions of dollars per year playing a game in a country where only this Country would do that for them, really has much validity in their protest, especially in such a manner. For those of you who are unaware of this young quarterback he is a person whom is half black via his Dad and half white from his Mom and even his Mom spoke out against what he is doing earlier this week.

Today this article is not about what the SF quarterback did or did not do Monday night, it is about something totally different that I witnessed during the Anthem. I am a person who is against any and all hate and against any and all racism, as racism is hatred and they are both a sin that should not be encouraged in any way. This article is about some of the other SF players who were standing, and giving the “Black Power” salute. I watched the game up until SF took a seven to zero lead on Washington then I went to bed. During those few moments of broadcast time I did not hear the broadcasters say one word about the players who did this very racist display of hatred. To me a blatant racist salute should not ever be tolerated in any event ever. The cowardliness of the TV broadcasters not commenting on these players doing this is sickening. I have a total belief that if at an NFL game this weekend some of the white players pull out KKK hoods and put them on during the Anthem that all of the media would go crazy, it would be the number one news story, as it should be. Doing a black power salute during the National Anthem just like the wearing of KKK hoods should be grounds for being thrown out of that game at the very least. Black racism is a disgrace to the black race just like white racism is a disgrace to the white race. Racism is pure ignorance, no matter what a person’s color is and this ignorance and hatred has no place in any Country and darn sure not during any Country’s National Anthem.
