Houston Chronicle endorses Beto O’Rourke in Texas Senate race

The Houston Chronicle on Friday endorsed Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke in his bid to unseat incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the closely watched Texas Senate race.
“With eyes clear but certainly not starry, we enthusiastically endorse Beto O’Rourke for U.S. Senate,” the Chronicle’s editorial board wrote in its endorsement. “The West Texas congressman’s command of issues that matter to this state, his unaffected eloquence and his eagerness to reach out to all Texans make him one of the most impressive candidates this editorial board has encountered in many years.”
The board notes that O’Rourke, a congressman in an El Paso-based district, faces “long odds” to become the first Democrat Texas could vote into the Senate in three decades. The board writes that a victory for O’Rourke would be beneficial for the state “not only because of his skills, both personal and political, but also because of the manifest inadequacies of the man he would replace.”
The board, which notes that it endorsed Cruz’s candidacy in the 2012 Senate race, criticized Cruz in its endorsement of O’Rourke, saying the incumbent has exhibited “little interest in addressing the needs of his fellow Texans during his six years in office.”
“For Cruz, public office is a private quest; the needs of his constituents are secondary,” the board wrote, also citing his pivotal role in a federal government shutdown in 2013, as well as his “nay” vote for the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act — a law that authorized $60 billion for relief agencies that were aiding Hurricane Sandy victims.
The board also pointed to the negative public comments Cruz has received from his Republican colleagues.
Former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) once said, “I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the board notes, once said: “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”
“What sets O’Rourke apart, aside from the remarkable campaign he’s running, are policy positions in keeping with a candidate duly aware of the traditionally conservative Texas voter he would be representing in the U.S. Senate,” the board continues.
The board then goes on to conclude that O’Rourke would serve as a check to President Trump, whom it describes as a “danger to the republic.”
“Cruz is unwilling to take on that responsibility.”
O’Rourke has gained a national following in his quest to unseat Cruz for his Senate seat. Still, polls have shown Cruz maintaining a solid lead. A poll released by CNN this week showed Cruz with a 7-point advantage. The nonpartisan Cook Political report has rated the race a “toss-up.”

GOP Rep Tells Mom Her Son On Medicaid Should Just Get A Better Job If He Wants Health Care

Rep. Warren Davidson also compared health insurance to a cell phone.

Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio), seated in the white shirt, tells a woman her son should get a job that provides health insurance if he wants decent coverage.

Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) told the mother of a service industry worker who has benefited from the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion that her son should get a better job if he wants decent insurance when Obamacare is repealed.

The woman, a constituent of Davidson’s in former House Speaker John Boehner’s old district, explained to Davidson at a town hall in Enon, Ohio on Tuesday night first covered by ShareBlue that her grown son lacked health insurance for four years, because his job in the service industry did not provide it. He received coverage through Medicaid when Obamacare expanded the program by offering to pick up almost all of the costs for states that lowered their eligibility thresholds.

She is now worried about President Donald Trump’s plan to rollback the landmark law’s Medicaid expansion, fearing it will leave her son with the bare-bones catastrophic health insurance, which, she said, is “basically no insurance at all.”

“Can you explain why my son and millions of others in his situation are not deserving of affordable, decent health care that has essential benefits so that he can stay healthy and continue working?” she asked.

Her son’s best route to getting decent insurance without Medicaid is to find work in an industry where employers provide it, according to Davidson.

“OK, I don’t know anything about your son, but as you described him, his skills are focused in an industry that doesn’t have the kind of options that you want him to have for health care. So, I don’t believe that these taxpayers here are entitled to give that to him. I believe he’s got the opportunity to go earn those health benefits,” he responded, eliciting boos from the crowd.

You can watch their full exchange at the 37-minute mark in the video above.

The woman’s reference to “essential benefits” alludes to the fact that House Republican leaders at one point tried to win over hardline conservatives by removing federal regulations requiring insurance plans to cover 10 basic benefits, including trips to the emergency room, as well as maternity and newborn care. In lieu of these benefits, low-premium, high-deductible catastrophic plans could cover even fewer procedures than they do now.

But Davidson implied that finding a better plan was as simple as shopping for a higher-quality consumer product like a cellphone.

“If he doesn’t want a catastrophic care plan, don’t buy a catastrophic care plan. If you don’t want a flip-phone, don’t buy a flip-phone,” Davidson said, eliciting loud groans from the audience.

“I’m sorry, health care is much different than a cell phone and I’m tired of people using cell phone analogies with health care,” the woman responded, before walking away from the microphone.

Rep. Warren Davidson represents former House Speaker John Boehner’s old district. He had a gruff response to a constituent’s question about Obamacare repeal.

Davidson’s metaphor resembled remarks by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), who suggested in March that people should not buy iPhones if they wanted the money to pay for health insurance.

But as Davidson’s constituent noted at the town hall ― and many observers pointed out when Chaffetz said it ― buying health insurance is completely different than shopping for everyday consumer products.

Consumers do not have the same power to command lower prices for health care, since it is not a product they can choose to not have. People also often lack the information and resources to choose a health care provider based on its cost value.

Those are just a couple reasons why health insurance is wildly more expensive than paying for a phone bill ― and obtaining coverage would remain perilously out of reach for millions of Americans without help from the government.

That’s a big deal, because unlike phones, Americans’ lives would be at risk if they did not have health care.

Although President Trump and House Republicans have already failed to negotiate an Obamacare replacement bill at least twice, the White House is dead-set on trying again as part of negotiations to continue funding the government. The latest idea floated by budget director Mick Mulvaney would involve trading Democrats a dollar in Obamacare funding for every dollar they approve for construction of the wall.

Would John Boehner Be The Perfect Choice For Mr. Trump As His V.P.?

For several days now this thought has been in my head and then this morning I read on my Google News that Mr. Boehner gave a speech last evening where he made different comments about the different Presidential Candidates. So this is where the title of this commentary today comes from. Mr. Trump has been saying since his big win in Indiana that he plans on choosing a V.P. from the political world, someone to help him navigate the D.C. political zoo? I believe that would be a very good business decision, a logical thing for anyone in his current position to do. I am not a person who knows any political insiders, Mr.  Trump could pick a well-known Governor, whom I have never heard of. I put these thoughts down for the purpose of getting some of you to think about whom you believe would be a very good choice for Mr. Trumps running mate. I give honest thought to you, what I personally think and believe would be the best choice that I can think of and the answer I choose would be Mr. Boehner. Who knows the workings of the front and back rooms of Congress better than Mr. Boehner? Right now he is out of all elected political office so neither party can leverage against his ‘Congressional Seat’. You may well have someone else in mind, I am rather sure that some of you think Mr. Boehner is a horrible choice, isn’t it awesome that God gave us freedom of thought?

I just got to thinking about people whom I would hate to see as Mr. Trumps choice and all of a sudden faces started popping up, first one popped up was ole Newt, the Cruz ticket, Cris Christie (to immature for me and he is so unwise about medical pot, he doesn’t have a clue so he acts ignorantly). For the kicker think of having Mr. Trump choosing, Rush Limbaugh, Bernie Sanders (He would actually be a real good idea), and the biggest gasp would be , Ms. Hillary. What do you think on this issue Mr. Trump is facing? Regardless your view of Mr. Trump this is a very serious issue. Think about this one huge error in judgement by Ronald Reagan in 1980 when he chose former Director of the CIA Mr. George H.W. Bush as his V.P.. Think about this, if Mr. Reagan had not chosen Mr. Bush Senior, the world would not have had to endure Mr. Bush Junior and the world would not have had the Iraq war. Would there be such thing as the Syrian Civil War going on right now if America had not illegally invaded Iraq? If there was no such thing as the Syrian Civil War, would there be such a thing today as ISIS? Vice Presidents really do matter sometimes and I believe that for this candidate Mr. Donald Trump, it matters a lot. I personally think that Mr. Boehner would be an excellent addition, back to Bernie for a moment, what do you think of that ticket, would it win? You know something, it just might. One last parting shot to/at Mr. Trump, Sir, if you do not disclose your audit returns information very quickly after the IRS boys and girls release them to you, you will lose the interest of millions of us ‘just regular folks’. You have made this an issue when there was never a need for it to be an issue but you yourself have made it into a foolishly one. You knew that you would have to turn those final numbers over to the talking heads in D.C. before you signed up for this adventure, didn’t you? Now you have created a game of Guess The Donald’s Real Net Worth. My guess is 3.3-3.6 B. That would be quite the achievement in one’s life, but not after you have been bragging up the idea of the number being at least 10 billion. Bragging is an embarrassing quality for anyone to have, it makes one look very childish, very foolish. My closing statement is this, if Mr. Trump doesn’t go ahead and fall on his ego and get it over with way before this summers convention, it won’t matter who you choose for your V.P., you will not win in November.

Voting For The Devil (Lucifer, i.e. Ted Cruz): No Free Speech Allowed Except Theirs

This week former Ohio Congressman and the Republican Speaker of The House of Representatives John Boehner referred to Texas Senator and Republican Presidential candidate ‘Lying Ted Cruz’ as “Lucifer in the flesh”. Late last year after the Pope visited America and Mr. Boehner whom is a Catholic got a few minutes with the Pope the next day announced that he was going to retire both from the Speaker-ship position and from the Congress. I believe that it was this same day that Mr. Boehner referred to Mr. Cruz as “the biggest asshole in the Congress”. It is in a sense the truth to say that they are from the same political party as Mr. Cruz is listed as a Republican as is Mr. Boehner yet that idea is really a fallacy because Mr. Cruz is really a member of ‘the Tea Party’ which constantly run their own candidates against sitting Republicans in the Republican primaries. I personally am a registered Independent voter who detest both of our country’s major political parties as being only self-serving and crooked to their core’s. During this Presidential election cycle both party’s have shown the world just how rigged both systems are toward any ‘outsider’ who would dare run for President against their party’s ‘establishment’ candidates.

The Republican primary debacle started with 17 people trying for their nomination with the vast majority of them being people who the ‘establishment’ could get behind. Now we are down to three men trying for that nomination. These three men, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Governor John Kasich of Ohio. The Republican Party hates the front-runner Mr. Trump with a passion mainly because he is not part of their ‘establishment’. Ted Cruz is loathed by basically every member of the Congress because quite frankly he is a lying fraud and a complete ‘asshole’ of a human being who dares to call himself a Christian when he is nothing but a hypocrite and the poster boy for Jesus’ term in Revelation of “luke warm water”. He is the type of person that is a disease toward Christianity as he tries to convince people that he is a good Christian example and that could not be further from the truth. The third candidate Mr. Kasich only has a chance to win the Republican nomination is if there is a contested convention this summer where the ‘Party’ refuses to give the nomination to the obvious people’s choice ‘via their vote’, Mr. Trump. The ‘delegates’ are freed up to vote for whomever they wish after the first vote if they reject Mr. Trump. Ted Cruz is under the ignorant belief that he then would win the nomination being he is second in line on that totem-pole. Folks, that will not happen, pretty much everyone at that convention and all of the Republican brass will shun this hate-filled hypocrite. This would mean that either ‘the Party’ will give the nod to Governor Kasich or even drag up old meat like Mitt Romney whom most of the party insiders can’t stand either. Any which way you choose to look at the issue, this ‘convention’ is going to get very nasty this summer.

The last part of this post is going to be about issues involving the Donald Trump campaign. Mr. Trump who has never been a politician has said a lot of things that he would like to do that even if he became our President will never be able to do. This is because the Congress, the Supreme Court, and our Nations Constitution will never allow them to happen. So, I personally am not as worried as some people are about Mr. Trumps rhetoric because it will not come to pass.

This is where I am going to come down hard on the people (mostly democratic leaning folks) who feel they have the right to riot anywhere Mr. Trump is scheduled to speak. These people just like all people in America are supposed to have the right of ‘free speech’. But what they nor anyone else have the right to do is to physically try to shut down Mr. Trumps rallies/speeches. Even if they hate the man and or hate some of his ideas that will never happen like ‘the wall’ along our Nations southern border with Mexico, they do not have the ‘right’ to stop his or anyone else right to speak. The case here is by far mostly applauded by leading Democrats like the poster girl for habitual liars, Hillary Clinton. Our Country’s main stream media is always very bias against anyone who doesn’t tow the mark for the Democrats leaderships wishes. People like Ms. Clinton and these hypocrites and thugs that obviously endorse these actions of ‘uncivil disobedience’ only agree with the term ‘free speech’ when it is they whom are doing the talking.

Is Ted Cruz (A) Anti-Christ? Or Is He Simply A Fraud And A Hypocrite?

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has first gone around the state of Texas and now the whole country lying to all he meets by saying he is a practicing Christian when he is by no means any such a thing. Lying, yes lying, plus add in other qualities like a fraud, and a thief. O, and let us not forget that as Mr. Trump said  about Mr. Cruz  when he refereed to him as a “very nasty person”, and Mr. Trump ought to know that quality very well, he has made a lifetime of being nasty to people for the purpose of his own personal gain. The Republican establishment chastised Mr. Trump for those comments even though they all know that he spoke truthfully about Mr. Cruz. The very recently retired Republican House Speaker  (John Boehner) shortly before he retired last year called Mr. Cruz “the biggest ass-hole in the Congress”. But then again when another now former Republican Senator Mr. Bob Dole was their Presidential Candidate they keep quiet that within the Senate he was known as ‘Mr. Nasty’. How does a political party whom claims the highroad claiming to be the most Christian Party put forth and then back people whom they know are very hate-filled people?

Just like ‘we the people’ have learned that Hillary Clinton is an habitual liar and that there is no way to trust anything that comes out of her mouth, Ted Cruz is proving to be the same. Mr. Cruz ran his Texas Senate campaign as him being this staunch conservative Christian yet it has been proven that he  is a liar to the core of his being. He told all the people of Texas how he was the outsider whom was not beholding to the Wall-Street Bankers, that he was a poor man whom had to mortgage all they had to come up with the money to fund his Senate campaign, liar! He received a little over one million dollars from two Wall-Street bank, the biggest was for $700,000.00 from the very bank that his wife worked at. You did hear that correctly. Then by law and by Senate rules when he was elected to the Senate he had to tell them all of the loans that he had (because the people have a right to know whom they/he is beholding too) there too, he lied. He didn’t mention those loans from the Wall-Street Banks because it would have shown the people of the great state of  Texas that he was a liar and a fraud. Now in the first political pony show that was held in Iowa yesterday his personal staffers were calling up other people’s staffers telling them that his Christian opponent Dr. Ben Carson had suspended his campaign when he had done no such a thing. Cruz is the only candidate that pulled this dirty trick. It is said that all is fair in war and politics but this itself is a lie if you are really a Christian. Cruz knew very well that if Dr. Carson did drop out of the race that he (being he claims to be such a Christian) would pick up a lot of Dr. Carson’s Christian voters, thus helping himself and hurting a person whom is an actual Christian.

If a person is truly a Christian we are supposed to try our very best to walk after the heart of God, not be an habitual liar, fraud, thief, law-breaker, and a hypocrite. There is no way that a person whom is a Christian (we must try our best to walk that walk of light everyday of our lives) would ever be considered by those whom know him well as the “biggest ass-hole” in the Congress. Mr. Cruz has proven himself to be little more than an apostasy, at best. At worst, he is one of the Anti-Christs trying to fill the seat of the current Demon that sits in the Oval-Office right now. We the people deserve a lot better human being in the White House than this fraud and habitual liar. Is it possible for Mr. Cruz, Mr. Obama, or Mrs. Clinton to ever speak the truth to the people? They seem to be three of the worse overall quality people who the U.S. Senate has had to offer up as Presidential candidates since, well, Bob Dole.  I don’t mind these folks running for public office because we are all suppose to have that right here in America. My issue with some of these evil characters is when they are claiming to be a Christian when it is very plain that they are capable of anything, no matter how dirty or illegal or unethical they perform their lives. People like Mr. Cruz will say or do anything it takes to win, and friends that is not walking after the heart of Jesus. I believe that Mr. Cruz is a person whom will just make our country even more gridlocked because he refuses any comprise on anything. I am  a conservative Christian person but I am also a realist, if our country, our people, are to prosper and if the Nation is to be strong we can not have a person in the Oval Office whom will never negotiate or compromise in the effort to get our Nation back on our feet again.  This will not with such an habitual liar as Mr. Cruz in the Captains Chair.

Far Right Republicans Are Destroying The Republican Party And America

Far Right Conservatives Are Destroying The Republican Party And America

These folks are not alone in the harm they are doing to our country, they have help, and they are called far left liberal Democrats. Both of these sides of each party are the tails that are wagging the dogs. Just a couple of days ago the Speaker of The House, Congressman John Boehner of Ohio turned in his resignation both from the Speakership but from the Congress itself. Mr. Boehner was a leader that was trying to steer the party to the center but the Tea Party type folks always fought him on any compromises with the Democratic side of the isle. The man got tired of fighting this battle and he resigned.  My own personal views are ones that lean more to the far right of the Republican Party (Tea Party) though I am a registered independent voter. But I am wise enough in my old age to realize that this format will not win when in a national format. Americans are about 80% more liberal in their thinking than this format and they will not vote in a system that insists on these “lack of freedoms” becoming the law of the land. I am personally for Mike Huckabee but I also do not believe that he has any chance of being elected in November of 16 because he used to be a Baptist Minister. The American people are more moderate in their thinking overall than the Outliers on both ends of each of these parties. As a citizen wouldn’t it be nice to start having a government that was at least a little bit adherent to the wishes of the poor saps who voted these imperialist into their current lap of luxury positions in the first place?

I do believe that this country was founded on Christian principles and values but it was not intended to ever be a “church state”. I would love for everyone one on the globe to turn to Christian ideals but I know that this is not going to happen, not globally nor in our own country. The far left of the Democratic Party does the same stonewalling on every issue that doesn’t fit their wishes perfectly also. The end result of the hardliners of both parties acting like self-righteous mules-butts is that the people they were sent there to serve are suffering every day because of them. This is just my personal view but I would like you to chew on it for a few moments then decide how you feel about my view okay? If I am a Congressman and I have 100 things on my agenda to accomplish I would rather get 50% of all of them accomplished than to only get one or two things accomplished 100% my way. If I am a city mayor and I have a choice of getting half of the funds I need to fix the cities structural problems right now, or I can say no, I will wait until I can get 100% of everything I want/need. This is always accompanied with the disclaimer that this 100% event may be years away or might never ever happen. Most people, most mayors, I believe they would take the 50% option right now.

The biggest money goes to those who yell the loudest with the most extreme ideals. If you as a politician swing far left or far right you will get face time with the media and big buck donations from those with similar hardline views. If you are a middle of the road type, roll up your sleeves, learn the local issues type of politician your voice just doesn’t get the play time, unless it is being taken out of context of course. Look at the people who are doing the best in the Presidential polls, do you notice how the American people hunger for non-politicians to lead us as a nation.
