The organizer of a new social media platform for conservative Christians is voicing his displeasure after he claims that he was refused service from a web development company because of his views on same-sex marriage.

Rich Penkoski, an evangelical preacher who helped organize the new Christian Facebook alternative SocialCross.org and runs the West Virginia-based online ministry Warriors for Christ, is speaking out after he says he was refused service when he tried to enlist the services of Open Social, an organization that provides intranet solutions for nonprofits and companies, and powers over 250 online communities.

Penkoski told CP Monday that he was looking for a way to improve the 12,000-user SocialCross.org and was interested in learning more about how Open Social could help the site, which was launched earlier this year.

After talking initially with a representative of Open Social about a possible free trial last week via email, Penkoski was later contacted by the co-founder of Open Social’s parent company on Friday.

Penkoski shared an email he allegedly received from Taco Potze, co-founder of the Netherlands-based company GoalGorilla and the Open Social distribution.

“Thanks for your interest in our services. We as a company unfortunately can’t align our mission of equality with yours, for example when it comes down to equal marriage rights for both straight and gay people and your warrior merchandise advocating to ‘make marriage straight again,'” Potze wrote in his Dec. 9 email, referencing the “Warriors for Christ” merchandise page that features a $26 “Make Marriage Straight Again” hat.

“Seeing how our principles differ, there just wouldn’t be a good fit cooperating.”

Potze’s email also offered an alternative for Penkoski and gave him a link to other agencies that could help him implement the open-source software for SocialCross.org.

“I am always looking for things to make the SocialCross better. I wanted to see what they offered by using their trial. In this case, I asked about how I could migrate my users over to this particular platform because theirs is open-source. I just wanted to see what they offered compared to what we are doing right now to see if there are any changes that are better. We are always on the lookout for stuff like that. But they refused service to me,” Penkoski explained.

“I went back and forth with the representative and all of a sudden, I got that email. I never even mentioned Warriors for Christ, not a word. How they found the merchandise from SocalCross, I don’t know because we don’t even sell that stuff on SocialCross.”

The Christian Post reached out to GoalGorilla and Potze for comment on Penkoski’s claims. An update will be provided once a statement is received from Potze or a GoalGorilla representative.

Penkoski is not afraid to let his opinions be heard when it comes to LGBT issues on the “Warriors for Christ” webpage and social media pages. One of the reasons Penkoski created SocialCross was because he had been suspended from Facebook a number of times because of posts about same-sex marriage and LGBT issues.

Penkoski explained that although everyone is welcome to join SocialCross, there are some limitations about what users can and can’t say when it comes to LGBT advocacy on the platform.

“People come on there and are supposed to have dialogue without the trolling, without that anger that Facebook breeds. Even with LGBT members who want to join, that is fine as long as they don’t advocate and don’t try to push it on people,” Penkoski said. “If they have genuine questions about why Christians don’t support same-sex marriage, and other genuine questions, we have no problem with that.”

“We have had a couple that have come on and joined SocialCross and say, ‘I love being gay’ and they use the profanity and that kind of stuff,” he added. “That is the line.”

The company’s refusal to offer service to Penkoski and SocialCross.org came during the same week in which the U.S. Supreme Court heard the oral arguments in the appeal of Colorado baker Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop, who was punished by the state government for acting in accordance with his faith and refusing to bake a cake for the wedding celebration of Charlie Craig and David Mullins in 2012. It’s important to note that Colorado didn’t recognize same-sex marriage until 2014.

“This is a private business and I believe that in America, you should have the right to refuse,” Penkoski said. “But the double standard is where I have the issue. If you can do it to Christians then Christians should be able to do it to you without a problem.”

Washington Post, Gay Marriage & Taiwan Christians

Washington Post, Gay Marriage & Taiwan Christians

Christians comprise less than 5% of Taiwan. But, according to a recent Washington Post story that read more like a commentary, they are the main obstacle to Taiwan’s becoming Asia’s first country to ratify same sex marriage.

The story fulsomely quoted Taiwanese advocates of gay marriage, but the reporter evidently either didn’t interview any opponents or didn’t find their comments sufficiently interesting to include. These unnamed opponents are instead dismissively paraphrased, accused of making claims “contrary to evidence,” at least in the reporter’s view. Supposedly they resort to “homophobic tropes” and pander to “parental fear.”

On Twitter, the reporter responded to congratulations for her slant with: “Trying my best not to report bigotry as fact.” So the views of several billion people in the world, possibly the majority of humanity, apparently don’t merit serious treatment if they clash with Western elite political correctness.

Meanwhile, unnamed church groups are ominously described as “well-funded” without saying by whom. Public comments by Taiwan’s justice minister opposing judicial redefinition of marriage are cited mockingly.

That justice minister belongs to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, elected to power last year led by a presidential candidate supporting gay marriage. The government seems to prefer redefining marriage through legislation rather than judicial fiat. Such legislation has been stalled due to apparently growing opposition. Unmentioned directly in the Post article, there is a multi faith coalition opposing this legislation, which includes Christians but also Buddhists and Taoists, who respectively each represent about one third of Taiwan’s population. Taiwan’s Christians are deemed “homophobic” but the more numerous religious groups are not cited.

Catholics comprise about half of Taiwan’s Christians. Their bishops have published a lengthy pastoral letter explaining why Catholic doctrine opposes same sex marriage. You can read it here. Presbyterians are the largest Protestant denomination, and although they are politically on the left and often aligned with the Democratic Progressive Party, their General Assembly has opposed same sex marriage with its own pastoral letter.

The Post article offers quotes denying allegations that same sex marriage is a Western imposition on Taiwan. Supposedly Taiwan’s sexual openness is due to its history of free spirited seafarers and their “seafaring gods.” Asian history is full of seafarers and traditional seafaring gods, on which Taiwan has no monopoly. Same sex marriage, especially conceived as a “right,” is a uniquely Western creation.

Same sex marriage as a right is also ironically a legacy of Western Christianity, especially Protestantism, with its stress on equality and individualism. Egalitarianism of persons has led to egalitarianism of sex. Taiwan is being asked to accept the social mores of Scandinavia, Holland and New England, where secularized Protestantism reigns.

And Taiwan is partly receptive, unlike the rest of Asia, because it is so Westernized. The Post article asserts same sex marriage is the logical legacy of Taiwan’s struggle against dictatorship. There’s more to the story. After losing Mainland China, Chiang Kai-shek created one party rule under his Kuomintang. But it fostered capitalism and close ties with the West, especially America. Democracy’s advent in the 1980s was the unintended but predictable result.

Taiwan because of its unique political status is arguably the least Asian of Asian countries. More than other Asian countries, it is experiencing a battle between Western individualism and traditional Asian mores centered on family. My guess is that many Taiwanese same sex marriage proponents are themselves from Protestant backgrounds and have secularized their understanding of human rights to include marriage and gender redefinition, like many in North America and Western Europe.

Here’s a postscript. Chiang Kai-shek was Methodist, and Taiwan under the Kuomintang had relative religious freedom while Communist China under Mao tried to destroy Christianity. Yet today Taiwan is at most 5% Christian (with only a few dozen Methodist churches) while Mainland China, where religion still faces restriction, is at least 5%, and some estimate approaching 10%. Under current church growth rates, China in 20 years or so may have more Christians than any other country.

Taiwan’s religious landscape and its debate over same sex marriage are far more complicated and interesting than the Post story, with its editorial caricatures, was able to admit.

So Hillary Says The Democrats Are The “God And Country” Party: How Pathetic

So Ms. Hillary says that the Democratic Party is the God and Country Party? I can only say that she “says that” because it’s impossible to say what she actually thinks about anything! Most of the wired world has known for at least a couple of decades now that this woman is the Queen of habitual liars, it’s impossible to know what she actually thinks on any issue. Before you get to thinking that I am some right-wing wacko conservative Republican, I am not. Yet I am not a Democratic either, I am a registered voting Independent. I agree with some of the policies and stances of each of those Parties and I disagree with much of both Party platforms also. I am not at all a Donald Trump fan as I think he is one of the most clueless 70-year-old men on earth as well as the most immature. Mr. Trump as you probably know likes to label everyone with some derogatory metaphor and he has chosen to call Ms. Hillary “crooked Hillary”. If you have paid any attention to Mr. Trumps business tactics it appears that he is well-informed on crooked tactics, Trump University being one such example.

Ms. Hillary has the gall to call a political party the Party of God when she and her Party favor abortion “rights” for all women up until the time the umbilical cord is cut. The Democratic Party also backs and pushes for the right of gay folks to marry when God calls gay actions an abomination. I believe that by the American Constitution that gay folks do have the Constitutional right to do so, but such actions are not ordained by God. The reason I am writing this article today isn’t for the purpose of knocking people’s beliefs nor am I trying to hurt people’s feelings. As with all things I write I am only trying to show people the truth about the issue I am writing about. For an absolute habitual liar to say that her party is the “God and Country” Party is not something that can go unchallenged or refuted. It is my opinion and belief that neither Hillary or Bill Clinton nor Mr. Trump have a clue about the Spirit of God nor that they care about anything God has to say about anything. I believe that these folks only care about money that they can get into their own pockets. How can anyone trust habitual liars and con-artists, especially these ignorant Godless ones? Republicans like to wrap themselves in the American flag that they are using to hide the fact that they are getting their pockets stuffed by large corporations and that they do not give a flip about the struggles of the working class people. Yet for the Democrats to have the gall to call themselves the “God and Country” Party is enough to make an Angel puke. But then again, if Ms. Hillary declares that she and they are, then you can pretty well bet that she and they are not.

America Are We Ready For The Bombs, Bullets, And Blades

There is nothing about this title that I like, there are many things that go on in the world daily that I don’t like so my disliking something obviously has no effect on their continued existence. I am a person who hates all form of human violence, I do not condone offence yet believe everyone has the God-given right to defend themselves and their loved ones. If there were never any attacks upon another then there would be no need to invest in defense. Unfortunately for all of us this is just a fantasy, a dream world. As long as there is hate in people’s hearts no one is ever really safe anywhere.

Recently the NSA was rebuked in public for some of their intelligence gathering methods by the Congress. They were ordered to discontinue some programs or method of  operations. Whether they really did stop the programs or not for now few will really know. Did they just change the name of things, give it another fancy code name? Personally I doubt if much if anything besides cosmetics will change. Here is a question for each of us to ponder, if we now have a few attacks here in the States as there are thousands of soft targets in every state, will we ever know if they could have been avoided if NSA programs weren’t scaled down?

Here is another tough thought or question for you to think about, would it be possible that bureaucrats would let a few attacks go through on purpose so to prove to the people how much they are needed, along with those old programs? Could such horrible human beings exist? I hope you know the truth about that question, some people kill people everyday without any concern for human life at all. There is such a thing as Evil that walks the Earth 24/7 and there is such a thing as people who are just naturally mean and they are proud of it, they wear it like a badge of honor. Then there are those who use their religion, government, or personal financial situation to condone their either illegal and or inhumane activities. I personally believe that there are very good people and very bad people in every government everywhere. Could any of our people do something illegal or evil believing it is for the good of the country? Humans have the ability of free though and free choice, some choose well, some not so much.

Personally I hate the concept of any big government anywhere in the world but this is not reality. But the reality is the Security Agencies have so far done a fantastic job here in the States. I do believe that America is going to have many future attacks on our home soil, just how close that future starts is the only question. Hate filled people world-wide recognize that you don’t have to have 9-11’s to destroy an economy, a way of life. Fellow Americans how are we as  a country going to react when Houses of Prayer are attacked, our supermarkets, bridges, transportation lines, power grids, our children’s  schools? I hate the thought of all this evil, and that is what it is, evil. Yet unfortunately we must all face the fact that this Hell will infect our children and their children’s lives. It is sad that in so many ways that today, these days, are going to be our little ones good old days.

Have to add this last paragraph because of the recent Supreme Court Ruling on Gay Marriages. I know just as you do that there are some people who are going to blame any future attacks on our Home Land because of this Sin. Some will believe this, correct or not. Could there be homegrown attacks on the Courts or government for these decisions which removes God’s Grace from our people? I hope not, no violence, no more blood upon mother earth, such a fantasy. Evil does beget evil, this there is no doubt, we just cannot let ourselves get caught up in the hate, for hate can easily saturate ones own Soul. There is nothing on this planet that is worth the loss of ones own Soul, and how does our actions affect the lives and Souls of those we love that are around us? Our actions, our knowledge, can save our loved ones, or it can kill them, and condemn them.
