Similarities Of Ancient Origins Between The Sumerians And The Bible

(THIS ARTICLE IS COURTESY OF ‘ANCIENT ORIGINS’)

The origins of human beings according to ancient Sumerian texts

(Read the article on one page)

Sumer, or the ‘land of civilized kings’, flourished in Mesopotamia, now modern-day Iraq, around 4500 BC. Sumerians created an advanced civilization with its own system of elaborate language and writing, architecture and arts, astronomy and mathematics. Their religious system was a complex one comprised of hundreds of gods. According to the ancient texts, each Sumerian city was guarded by its own god; and while humans and gods used to live together, the humans were servants to the gods.

The Sumerian creation myth can be found on a tablet in Nippur, an ancient Mesopotamian city founded in approximately 5000 BC.

The creation of Earth (Enuma Elish) according to the Sumerian tablets begins like this:

When in the height heaven was not named,
And the earth beneath did not yet bear a name,
And the primeval Apsu, who begat them,
And chaos, Tiamut, the mother of them both
Their waters were mingled together,
And no field was formed, no marsh was to be seen;
When of the gods none had been called into being,
And none bore a name, and no destinies were ordained;
Then were created the gods in the midst of heaven,
Lahmu and Lahamu were called into being…

Sumerian mythology claims that, in the beginning, human-like gods ruled over Earth. When they came to the Earth, there was much work to be done and these gods toiled the soil, digging to make it habitable and mining its minerals.

The texts mention that at some point the gods mutinied against their labour.

When the gods like men
Bore the work and suffered the toll
The toil of the gods was great,
The work was heavy, the distress was much.

Anu, the god of gods, agreed that their labour was too great. His son Enki, or Ea, proposed to create man to bear the labour, and so, with the help of his half-sister Ninki, he did. A god was put to death, and his body and blood was mixed with clay. From that material the first human being was created, in likeness to the gods.

You have slaughtered a god together
With his personality
I have removed your heavy work
I have imposed your toil on man.

In the clay, god and man
Shall be bound,
To a unity brought together;
So that to the end of days
The Flesh and the Soul
Which in a god have ripened –
That soul in a blood-kinship be bound.

This first man was created in Eden, a Sumerian word which means ‘flat terrain’. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Eden is mentioned as the garden of the gods and is located somewhere in Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

Initially human beings were unable to reproduce on their own, but were later modified with the help of Enki and Ninki. Thus, Adapa was created as a fully functional and independent human being. This ‘modification’ was done without the approval of Enki’s brother, Enlil, and a conflict between the gods began. Enlil became the adversary of man, and the Sumerian tablet mentions that men served gods and went through much hardship and suffering.

Adapa, with the help of Enki, ascended to Anu where he failed to answer a question about ‘the bread and water of life’. Opinions vary on the similarities between this creation story and the biblical story of Adam and Eve in Eden.

Christians Don’t Understand The Biblical Beginning Of Time For The Earth And All That Is On It

THIS POST IS DEDICATED TO MY FELLOW WORD PRESS BLOGGER AND BROTHER: JOSEPH

Joseph is a very intelligent young man whom is highly educated yet seeks the truth of the beginning of time of mankind and of our end of time. Joseph is a person who has looked at the Christian faith and what the churches are saying about the beginning of this planet and the beginning of mankind and he realizes that what the ‘Christian establishment’ is saying is simply ignorant and not at all the truth. I use the word truth with that word’s definition being Biblical truth, God’s truth, not yours or my personal version. To accomplish my task I must show what I am talking about by using the Bible. Most older folks are like me and prefer the King James Version (KJV) so I am going to use it and my wife’s American Standard Version (ASV). I am going to point out several passages from the first five chapters of the first book of the Bible (Genesis). This is so that you can follow me as I explain things. There are millions of people like Joseph who look at the passages, or listen to a Preacher talk about them and then have their inner voice go “this is just stupidity” then turn away from Christianity thinking ‘well that can’t be true’. When the Churches (the Bride of Christ), Preachers or Christians make these errors of knowledge they are, and have, caused the Spiritual death of many millions of people.

Christian Churches tend to take the first six days of ‘creation’ as a literal human six days even though Scriptures New Testament and Old Testament make it very plain that “God’s days are not our days” yet we people want to insist that they are. Moses (a friend of God) is credited with writing the first five books of the Bible. The book of Genesis covers more geological time than all of the other 65 books combined so let us start at the beginning of Genesis okay. I do not know exactly how much of our time that is one day of God’s time, no where does the Scriptures lay that out for us to know. By Scripture and human history using ‘our time’, the story of Adam and Eve is about 5,500 or so odd years ago. A simple question about ‘God’s time’ needs to be referenced to the concept of eternity, was does time matter in eternity, does it have any meaning? Could God’s day be a million of our years, ten million, a billion? Do you think the human race 5,500 years ago could have fathomed the concept of billions of years when just a few of their human generations was considered as ‘in days of old’? It has only been about 150 years now that humans have known of the existence of dinosaurs and yet even today many Churches teach that there is/was no such thing as the ‘pre-historic’ creatures. I have come across many people whom belong to Churches that say, “well, they did exist but that was day one”. This type of pure ignorance (lack of knowledge) has caused the Spiritual death of millions if not billions of people throughout this past 2,000 years. Just as the people of the Jewish faith don’t understand that the Messiah (promised one) was ‘the Word’ of God and has always been with God the Father even from the very beginning of ‘our time’, a lot of Church folks believe that ‘Jesus’ began when He was born as flesh in 4 B.C. in Bethlehem Israel. Lack of understanding makes a lot of folks walk away.

Please open your Bible to Genesis chapter one verses 26-28. This is where you find God speaking of the events of the sixth day where He created mankind. In the first 5 days God created the Earth, our Sun and our Moon, remember, not human days. In verse 26 we see the first place in Scripture where we are shown that ‘God’ is more than one ‘Being’. “And God said, let (Us) make man in our image, after (Our) likeness:…”. Now let us go down one verse to verse’s #27, 28. This is still ‘day six’, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them”. “And God blessed ‘them’, and God said to ‘them’, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the Earth…”. Now, verse number 31 is the last verse of the first chapter of Genesis. In verse 31 it shows that the sixth day was complete.

To make a point I am going to quote the first three verses of chapter number two, these three verses show that day six is finished and tells of day seven. v 1) “Thus the heavens and the Earth were finished, and all the hosts of them.” v 2) “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all the work which He had made”. v 3) “And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made”.

Okay, now the Earth and mankind and womankind have been created and all of the seven days and the works of God are accounted for, correct? The Scriptures make very plain that all is done as far as creation is concerned so this has to mean that Adam and Eve have been created all ready, correct? Now, please go to verses 5 through 8, the seven days of creation are over yet at the end of verse 5 it says “…and there was not a man to till the ground”. What? Wait a moment haven’t we already been told that men and women have already been created? v 7) “And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living Soul”. v 8) “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man who He had formed”. Verses 9-14 describe the creation of the garden of God (Eden). In verse 15 it tells us that God took this man and put him into His garden (Eden) to keep it and cultivate it. Verse 20 tells us that this man who God had put into the garden had no partner, wait a moment, what happened to the men and women that God created on day six? In verse 19 we are first told that this man’s name was Adam, but where is Eve? In verse 21 God took one of Adam’s ribs and made Adam a woman whom was called Eve.

What we are very plainly being shown and told is that there was two creations of mankind. This second creation of man was where Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden were created. They are the first that “the breath of life was breathed into them and they became a living Soul”. There is no mention of this in the ‘first creation’ of mankind on ‘day six’! Now regarding the “there was no man to till the ground” in the time of ‘day six’ all we need to do is look at mans recorded history, it was only about 5-6000 years ago that man was turning from hunting gatherers in the Middle-East to becoming people who started staying more in one spot and tilling the earth for their food. About the same time frame of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden.

There is more that backs up what I am telling you here is the truth of the Scriptures than just what I have shown you so far. Chapter 3 tells us of the fall of Adam and Eve when they ate of the forbidden fruit of the tree of Good and Evil and were cast out of the Garden of God. In chapter 4 we are told the story of the first two sons of Adam and Eve whom they called Cain and Able. In verse 8 is where Cain murdered his brother Able. So, I have a question for you. At this exact point in time there are only 3 people on the whole Earth correct? You have Cain and his two parents and that is it, no one else, right? In verse 9 God confronted Cain about what he had done and God cast him out and told him of his punishments. Go to verse 14 where Cain is talking to God and told God that “every one who finds me will kill me”. Wait a minute, who the heck is ‘everyone’, there is only him his Mom and his Dad on the planet so who the heck is everyone? Verse 15 “And the Lord said to him, whosoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him seven fold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain (in case any finding him) should kill him”. Churches teach us that there wasn’t anyone else, so is God a liar, or maybe an idiot? Or, is it mankind that is mistaken?

Verse 16 tells us that Cain left where he was and went east into the land of “Nod” east of Eden. Verse 17 starts with “And Cain knew (had sex with) his wife”. Now wait a moment, what wife? Wasn’t there just himself, his Mom and Dad? Obviously that is not correct unless Cain was committing incest with his own Mom and that is obviously not so. Verse 17 tells us that Cain and his wife had a son and his name was Enoch. Then in the very next verse it says that Enoch had a son, now wait a minute, where did Enoch find him a wife at?

The issue I am showing you here is the very plain fact that there were (two) creations of humans, not just the one where Adam and Eve (the only real ‘Royal’ blood line) were created. I am going to end this article tonight with the words from chapter 5 verses 1& 2. “This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God created He him; Male and female created He them; (AND CALLED THEIR NAME ADAM), in the day when the were created”.

I hope that this information was helpful to some of you and to you Joseph. Good night, God bless you all.

Science And The Bible Agree On The Beginning Of Time People Just Don’t Realize It

Science And The Bible Agree On The Beginning Of Time People Just Don’t Realize It

I hope that this title was able to get the attention of as many people as possible. Please, after you have read this, with and open mind, I hope that you will forward it onto all the people you know.

Are you familiar with the term “lying by omission”? My spouse uses that one on me every once in a while. She usually gets on me about it when she asks me things like how are you feeling today and I fail to inform her of each and everything that hurts that day. Sometimes if I just give her a general kind of canned answer is because I feel some things are not important enough to mention, sometimes I don’t feel like a conversation that to me just sounds like whining so I just say I’m okay instead. She says that is lying by omission, I guess that the correct answer is dependent on the feelings of the beholder.

There is a reason for the upper paragraph. I am going to use this type of example in regards to the Bible’s very first book, the book of Genesis. Whether you are familiar with this book or not I ask you to please reread the first two chapters then come back to this post. You often hear people say “the Bible says this or the Bible doesn’t say that”. In my life I have noticed that most of the time people do not have any idea what the Bible says about most things because they are going on hear say evidence, not on the facts they might learn if they actually opened it up once in a while and read things on their own.  But it is an obvious truth that the Bible doesn’t tell us everything about everything. For examples the Scriptures don’t say anything about dinosaurs so being it doesn’t is it lying by omission? Well, it doesn’t say anything about jet planes or automobiles either, or if the Chicago Cubs will ever win another World Series, so what does all of that mean? If Moses, “a friend of God”, didn’t write it down does that mean they didn’t or won’t exist? Sometimes we humans actually need to use some basic common sense to be able to see through our own bias, ignorance, and hatreds.

With this paragraph I would like to address issues about the beginning of the Earth and how people of the Christian and Jewish faiths don’t understand the obvious things about those first two chapters of Genesis. Do you think if Moses had written (or even knew about) the things written above and had spelled it out to the people do you think the people would have listened to him, or would they have laughed him to scorn or even stoned him to death for being totally crazy? The Scriptures speak several times about how God’s time (clock) and ours are not the same yet people, even those of faith, believe that the Earth and all things on it were created in six human days. Pardon folks, but that is obvious stupidity. If you pay attention, or even bother to read the Scriptures they are littered with examples/occasions where God spoke to His Prophets about things that were to come like with the great walled city of Nineveh how it would come down and the cities massive walls destroyed by water. A couple of generations after the warnings from the Prophet Jonah the flood waters knocked down one corner and her enemies rushed in and slaughtered them. God very often speaks events and the building blocks of His words then occur. I do not know what one of Gods days are but it is very plain it is not our days. Think about it, every planet in our solar system has a different amount of time in its rotation around the Sun. I as a devout Christian have no doubt about the occurrence of the “Big Bang”.

I have no doubt at all that the world is billions of years old like scientist say it is and that there is such a thing as evolution, just not to the point that science through their lack of knowledge and faith speak of. One of the things that is very important for people to understand is spelled out very plainly in the first and second chapter that there were TWO HUMAN CREATIONS. Go back, read it again, in the first chapter on day six God created man and he created woman and then on the seventh day He rested from His work. Then, in the second chapter after all those things were done He created His garden (Eden) and then He created Adam and a little bit later created Eve. Two creations folks, the first human creation was the gentiles, that is you and me folks, we are not of “the royal blood line”. We humans did not crawl out of the sea nor did we evolve from monkeys. It was thousands of years before Adam and Eve that God populated the Earth with humans. Humans as we know us to be now, no. Before He created that “royal blood line”(Adam and Eve) God dispersed gentiles among all the lands of the Earth, but we did evolve one from another. People question where different types of people vanished to, why they went extinct, the answer is simple, they were bred out. This is evolution, there is truly a missing link or two or three between gorillas and the gentile human race that never existed this is why science will never find it.

Most Christian people want to think our lineage goes back to Adam and Eve and at least here in America our egos refuse to accept the obvious and that is that we are not all related. The Jew and the Greek/gentile, from the beginning of Scripture all the way through the last book (Revelation) we are spoken of as two people’s. Even Jesus Himself in referring to the gentiles as “before this time were not a people” and He even referred to us Gentiles as “dogs”. We did not “become a people” until after the resurrection of Jesus. Through Christians ignorance we don’t believe science and atheist science through their ignorance don’t believe the Bible. It appears that through lack of knowledge on both sides the greatest errors are humans not God’s. Please think about these things, these are things I have never heard in any church building, Synagogue, or Mosque, it is revelations shown to me through much study and much prayer. These ‘Revelations’ are not just to me, they are there for everyone to see, to read, and to understand. We are all children of God now, we will all answer for our own good and our own sins. We are all brothers and sisters, it is only in our ignorance that we look down our noses at others, and we will all individually answer for our own stupidity at Christs Judgement Seat after we die. Study the Scriptures daily to see if the things we are being told in our houses of worship are the truth or not so that we do not have to be ashamed at our own judgement. The people who write the science books desperately need to do the same. In both instances both have somethings correct, and through lack of knowledge, both have some things wrong.

My Name Is Nod

OF THE SEVERAL HUNDRED POEMS THAT I HAVE WRITTEN THROUGH THE YEARS THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL FAVORITE.

This is a poem that is designed to make you think, to get you to maybe get the book of Genesis out for another look see. Maybe, if you are not good at world geography you might want to dig into some maps of the know world of about 5,000 years or so ago. I hope that you enjoy it, quite a bit of research went into making this poem be accurate.

Do you know me

Listen, does not the wind whisper

Do not the mountains echo my name?

How is it you do not know me

Did not the man Moses lay out the path to my door

For two of your human generations

The Valley of The Garden of God

Was my western door.

My Sister, Lake Urmia was fast a sleep

Within her no bounty ever found

As the West Gate of God’s Garden she guarded

Now she is but salty ground.

Did not my mountains rumble

And spew forth fire and rocks?

How is it you can not find me?

Can you not hear the ticking of the clock?

Many of your years ago now

One man came forth unto me

Spewed forth from the Garden of God

He came unto me, with a mark upon his head

So all my inhabitants would know

That whosoever dared touch him

Would also soon be dead.

The Garden has now so long been gone

It’s land like mine is scorched

The Face of God once again I seek

But when He does once again return

Will He echo my words to you

Child, how is it you do not know me?
