Chapter #8…The Seventh Seal
As we begin the 8th chapter of Revelation our Lord Jesus (Yeshua) is opening the Seventh of the Seven Seals of the ‘Sealed Book’. When the Seal is opened we are introduced to the Seven Angels with the Seven Trumpets. On a side note, have you noticed that the #7 is quite prevalent within the Book of Revelation just as it is throughout the Scriptures? The pattern the Apostle John used with the Seven Seals he also used throughout this Book. What I mean by this is that after the first set of 7 is followed by 3 more sets of 7. Also, after the first 6 events there is a break in the events. Then the 7th event leads into the next event of 7. In Johns writing of these events which are yet to happen he is showing us that all of these events are hooked together. These are not unrelated events as one does lead straight into that which is to follow.
Folks, we are all Children of God, everyone of us, but are we faithful caring Children or have we chosen to be no more than wild beasts? If we are faithful Children of God we need not fear these events that are about to take place. That is, are we a believer in and a doer of the Will of our Lord and our Father! Friends, if we are, then we will not be on this planet when these events happen here, the reason is that we will have already been Raptured. But folks, we all must be “doers” of God’s Will, not just “hearers” only. Think about it for a moment, how can we honestly say we love our family members, friends, neighbors and coworkers yet stand idly by and let them suffer through these events?
In John’s writings here in this Book we see the 7 Seals, the 7 Trumpets, the 7 Angels and the 7 Bowls of wrath that are to be poured out upon a wicked Earth. In the 7 Trumpets that we read about in this chapter you will see plainly that it is God whom is directing these events. In the first verse of this chapter we are told what takes place as the 7th Seal is opened. It reads that when He (Jesus) opened the 7th Seal there was silence in Heaven for about half of an hour. Friends, this is the proverbial calm before the storm. This 8th chapter is only 13 verses in length so let us now go through them and pray the The Holy Spirit will show us all the meaning of them.
1.) “And I saw the 7 Angels which stood before God and to them were given 7 Trumpets.” “And another Angel came and stood at the Alter, having a Golden Censer and there was given unto Him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the Saints upon the Golden Alter which was before the Throne.” “And the smoke of the incense which was presented with the prayers of the Saints ascended up before God out of the Angels hand.” “And the Angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the Alter and cast it onto the Earth and there were voices and thundering and lightning and an earthquake.” “And the 7 Angels with the 7 Trumpets prepared themselves to sound their Trumpets.”
“The first Angel blew His Trumpet and there came hail and fire mingled with blood and they were cast upon the Earth and 1/3 of the trees were burnt up and all green grass was burnt up.” “Then the 2nd Angel blew His Trumpet and there was as a great mountain burning with fire and it was cast into the Sea and a 1/3 part of the Sea became blood.” “And a 1/3 of the creatures which were in the Sea that had life died and 1/3 of the ships were destroyed.” “And a 3rd Angel sounded His Trumpet and there fell a great Star from Heaven, burning as if it were a torch and it fell upon 1/3 of the rivers and upon the fountains of waters.” “And the name of the Star is called Wormwood and many men died from drinking the waters because they were made bitter.” “Then the 4th Angel sounded His Trumpet and 1/3 of the Sun was smitten and also 1/3 of the Moon and 1/3 of the Stars; so as 1/3 part of them was darkened and the day shone not for 1/3rd part of it and the night likewise.” “Then I beheld and heard an Angel flying through the midst of Heaven, saying with a loud voice, woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the Earth for reason of the other voices of the Trumpet of the three Angels, which are yet to sound.”
These thing that the Apostle John has written here are going to be horrible events to have happen to the people who remain upon the Earth during the Tribulation period. The ideal situation would be if at the Rapture that everyone on Earth was Raptured. This would leave Satan and His Angels/Demons “home alone” here on the Earth during these times. There is no one upon the Earth that I dislike enough that I would want them to have to live through these events. Just as there is no one on the planet whom I wish to “go to Hell”, not even the person who killed my Mom in a car accident back in August of 2000. We as Christians must not be filled with hate, nor are we to be judges of others. Remember, it is okay and natural to hate evil acts but not to hate the sinner there of. This is because we all sin, everyone of us and we shall be judged by what degree we judge. Jesus (Yeshua) our Lord is the one True Judge and it is He will will Judge all of us. We all have an obligation to our Lord Jesus and to all of our loved ones and friends to not sit on our God given talents. We are all obligated to spread the Word of God’s love so that as few people as possible will have to be here on Earth during this Great Tribulation Period!
Please remember the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15: 51-52. “Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep (die), but we shall be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling (blink) of an eye, at the last Trumpet: for the Trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed.” I am going to close this letter to you this evening with one more passage of Scripture from the Apostle Paul that I would like for you to think about, this passage is found in 1 Thessalonians 4: 16. It reads “For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel and with the Trumpet of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first.” Friends, we all have a decision to make and like it of not we all do make that decision many times everyday. It is simply, who do we follow, who do we serve. There are only two choices, we either follow and obey God or we are following and serving the Devil. There is no such thing as a third choice here nor some gray area that we think we can slide into. All humans will spend their eternity somewhere and that somewhere does depend of how we choose to spend this life we are in right now. We will spend our eternity either in Paradise with Christ or we will spend it in Hell’s fire with the Devil. Folks, friends, please choose wisely.
