Truth: Is All That Matters

Truth: Is All That Matters

This statement, this title, probably confuses or even angers some folks I would imagine. After all, what matters to each of us is a personal thing isn’t it? I know I am painting this picture of life with a broad brush at the moment but as this letter to you goes forward I will try to narrow this ‘Truth’ concept down into a much more precise venue.

What things matter the most to you in your personal life, is it our Spouse, our children, our bank accounts? Personally I feel very blessed that I am where I am at, at this stage in my life. I have made many huge mistakes in my life, I have hurt a lot of people including people who are close to me.  Even though my health forced me to retire at the age of 56 my little family still have a roof over our head, enough food to eat and two old vehicles to drive us where we need to go (I personally do not drive anymore myself though). What have these things got to do with truth though you my rightfully ask? The answer is in the form of a question though, the question is, what matters the most to each of us, is it our family, or our home, something else?

How is it possible that you or I even exist? How is it possible that we have anything here in this life? Did we create the things that we have? Some my say yes, I built my house myself, I went to the woods and cut the trees down towed them to my land and did all the work myself including the plumbing and the electricity, so yes, I did it all myself and that is the truth. Some say that their family is the most important thing in their life and that they created their own children and they have DNA test results to prove it.  What about our bank accounts and our fleet of fancy cars, you worked very hard and long hours to obtain these luxury things so they are our pride and joy.

I have been focusing on material items so far because at least here in the U.S. it seems that the ‘truth’ has to do with our ego, our pride, our self-worth.  We tend to think that we ourselves are the rock our world is founded upon and we seldom seem to think about how any of these life miracles ever even became a possibility. We, are the center of our own universe, the world is round and it rotates around us. What is the real truth though? Did I really create this world that I live in? Our house, our two cars, our food, the jobs that I had to create the income during my lifetime, did I really create them, are they mine? My wife, my children and grandchildren, even this body that I have, the air that I breathe, are they mine? Do I own them, is my life, really my life? Did I create the ground, the dirt, the trees, the air we breathe? Am I the Creator of any of this, are you?

Everything that you or I have belongs to the one who is the actual Creator and the one who is the sustainer of all the things that make up who we are. All of our possessions, they are not ours, we are only renting them from the one who actually truly owns them and that is not you or me. All land, all money, all food, all shelter belongs to the true Creator of these things and the one who allows us to exist on His property. Some folks complain about giving back even 10% of our bounty to the one who actually owns even the air we breathe. The real ‘Truth’ is that we are allowed to exist because of the Grace of the one and only the true ‘Creator’. Folks, we all need to get our priorities straight, we must all face the fact that we are not the center of the Universe. When we die, if we die in ignorance to the facts about reality then we will face the Truth of what Scriptures call ‘The Second Death’. What is this? We all die once here in this physical body, then we will all face the reality of being cast away from our Creator forever. The ‘Second Death’ is this eternal separation from our Creator. Folks, this is truth whether we like it or hate it, this does not matter, it is still ‘The Truth’ we all will face.
