Tangled Roots

Never Shoot The Whale

I found myself looking for validation in you

Solely basing my self worth on your opinion

And you are in no way to blame for that

You were actually quite right to leave

I felt so confident with you

Stood tall while I was by your side

Or more like clinging to your shoulders

You had the courage to step back

To look at the mess we continued weaving

Untangled our roots

And I grew

It was no easy journey but I found a way

To anchor myself to the soil on my own

I do not know who I would have blossomed into

Had we continued tending to our garden

But thank you for pushing me

To bask in the sunlight

And bathe in rain showers on my own
