Most travellers would visit the east Coast of Australia and completely overlook the treasure that Tasmania is. If you want rugged coastlines beautifully preserved beaches and truly want to experience close encounters to wildlife in Australia than Tasmania is the winner for you. Unlike mainland Australia driving distances are much closer going from snowy mountains to pristine beaches in less than 3 hours!

1. Maria Island:

An island off an island off an island Maria Island used to be an old convict island in the 1800’s and now a national park. This island has no shops, restaurants homes nor cars it has to be top of the list of places to visit in Tasmania. You could spend a few hours or an entire day just catch the ferry from Triabunna.
