(Philosophy Poem) Wisdom Of A Drunkard

WISDOM OF A DRUNKARD

Would a sober man lay down in the flames of a fire

If you are not sick or wounded should you die young

Strong wine will show you things that are not there

Strange women and wine will steal all of your wages

Yet, when you awaken sick do you seek to feel it again

The bottle can sting like a Scorpion and bite like an Asp

When you hear the rattle why do you still seek its poison

Why do we seek woe’s and sorrows from thy lovers heart

Wine lies in wait like the Lion hiding in the high weeds

Strong drink is like a whore who leaves us lying in the ditch

Child let your eyes and heart observe the ways of a Mothers love

Fathers and Mothers rejoice over the path of their sober child

Use your strength to find truth, sell it not for the price of a bottle

A drunkard shall only know poverty and live their life in dishonor

Everything has its end, let not wine be the early end of your time
