Today Is Past, Just As ALL Of Our Yesterdays

A salute to all of our yesterdays

Think not of the stripes we have earned

Smiles on faces of names long forgotten

Peaceful quiet, snuggle in, cry, or pray

Loved ones, one by one leave our arms

Snapshots of peaceful times, hopefully on print

Years gone by, do our mental pictures fade

Have all of our days been a shame to the Son

Patriarch by 40 something I never wanted to see

Our children and theirs grow up to ignore you

Things we’ve done wrong, own them, then go on

Yesterday’s ill’s, we can’t change the harm we’ve done

Our today, don’t create tomorrows butt of a joke

Today like yesterday is past, good or bad it is done

Mistakes can haunt the human brain to the grave

Doing the Texas two step with God’s Angels tomorrow

Such bliss depends on our today if there will be a tomorrow
