Citizens in England Call For Speech Crackdown After A Man Walks By Parliament With ISIS Flag

JONATHAN TURLEY

2000There is an interesting story out of England that shows the rising expectations among people that speech is regulated to prevent unpopular expressions. A man was photographed walking past Parliament with a small child on his shoulders and waiving an Islamic State flag. What I saw was a demonstration of free speech that is a testament to Western values. What many in England saw was an outrageous failure of the police to arrest the man.

Englishman Arrested For Posting Anti-Islamic Tweets After Brussels Bombing

Free speech is only allowed if you keep your mouth shut and your fingers off the keyboard.

JONATHAN TURLEY

England flagFreedom_of_SpeechThere is another arrest in the United Kingdom for criminal speech, a crime that is on the rise in the West to censor and punish those who are deemed hateful or insulting in their views. The latest arrestee is reported to be Matthew Doyle, 46, a partner at a London PR agency. He was arrested after tweeting about how he asked a Muslim woman to “explain” the terror attacks in Brussels. It was a stupid and insulting act, in my view. Moreover, Doyle reportedly used some slur for Muslims in later postings. However, none of that justifies criminalizing speech and the arrest shows the increasing appetite in England (and the West) for rolling back on free speech. Indeed, we recently discussed the Obama Administration’s threats of prosecution for those who speak in ways deemed misleading or hateful.

PODER Y CONTRAPODER: LOS RETOS DE LA PRENSA EN EL S. XXI

We Create Our Own Happiness

Everything I Never Told You

image

Let’s take the sun and leave
the rain for other minds.
Let the light go straight
to the center of our brains.
Linger on the green grass
of a happier life. Home free,
but not homeless.
Let’s live in the world
inside of us where nothing can be lost.
Someplace where it’s always autumn and
there are plenty of leaves to break our fall.
Just you and me where’s there’s no them or they.
Showing the hollowed out existence,
the slamming screen door.
No longer waiting on the light
to save us but shining our
own brilliance. Knowing
if the light ever finds us,
we’ll light its way.

Another Reason To Be Armed: Two Armed Wal-Mart Shoppers Stop Drug Deal Gone Wrong

Articles & Novelettes for the Discerning Martial Citizen

Drugs21
A drug deal was going down in a Wal-Mart parking lot.  Some of the participants were not happy with the deal.  They could not use the criminal justice system, so they used guns.  Shots were exchanged between occupants of two cars in the lot.  The Wal-Mart parking lot was not in New York or New Jersey.  This WalMart was in Augusta, Maine, and in Maine, responsible and honest people can legally carry guns.  Two honest and responsible gun carriers stopped the shooting.
The shooting in the Maine WalMart was between New York residents, and it involved Heroin.  The four parties arrested were named in an article by centralmaine.com.  There was no mention of the responsibly armed people who stopped the shoot out and defused the situation.  The suspected drug deal and shootout participants were:

Erdogan blasts Gaza flotilla that sparked crisis with Israel

(In my articles I have blasted President Erdogan for many of his actions and words as I believe that much of his policies have badly hurt the people of Turkey. Yet when he does say or do things that are positives for his people and the region I am man enough to congratulate him for his statesmanship. I congratulate him for trying to rebuild ties with Israel and for these flotilla comments, well done sir.)
